Over 100,000 people were in the streets of Kiev in the Ukraine. They were chanting against the decision by their government to forsake an opportunity to enter the European Union and opt for life under the benign rule of Vladimir Putin. The protesters were furious at the decision by Viktor Yanukovych to crumble under the threats of Putin and turn his back to the European Union and its offer of working in a modern economy that would offer citizens of the Ukraine opportunities to work in many nations. The EU offers work opportunities in the western world rather than a future in which high paying jobs would not be available. The Putin economy is centered on oil and gas work, the European Union is a modern society in which nations focus on work centered in high tech.
It is not surprising that over thousands were chanting “we want Europe, we want freedom.” There is a possibility that revolution may soon arrive in the Ukraine.

I was raised in a world in which Irish people were dedicated supporters of democracy and the right of people to enjoy freedom of religion as well as oppose forces of hatred. Union leaders like Mike Quill fought for human rights and would never support forces of hatred toward those who wanted the right to live in peace. New reports from Ireland indicate members of the Irish Republican Army are linking up with the Taliban to secure mortars and rocket launchers that would shoot down planes. The IRA apparently has decided to join with the Taliban and get into the business of placing hate as the number one place on the agenda of Irish freedom. Frankly, the very concept of the IRA connected to the Taliban makes no sense to those such as myself who always wanted Ireland to enjoy a democratic society which secured rights to all people in Ireland, Catholic or Protestant.
One wonders if some IRA folk joined the British army in order to go to Afghanistan and obtain military training and equipment which could be returned to the green shores of Ireland. How did we ever reach a stage in which the IRA was now a killing buddy of the Taliban??

In 1979 a communist government ruled Afghanistan and when Afghan communist leaders clashed over power they invited Russian forces to enter the nation and restore peace. That began the rebellion against the Afghan government and it was during this period that our beloved CIA outfitted Muslim fanatics to wage war. The collapse of the Communist government ushered in the 1990s, a time of chaos and destruction which ended when the Pakistan created Taliban entered the country and imposed its Sharia style backward government. Americans arrived in in 2001 and now we just want to go home and leave about 10,000 advisors to assist the Afghan armed forces. President Hamid Karzai refuses to sign an agreement with President Obama. The main issue is use of drones to kill. Regardless of what Obama claims, Drones DO lead to death of innocent civilians.
We offer some words of advice to Karzai. The guy you currently are challenging was challenged by the Republican party and he took the Zero Option approach, he did NOT back down. He is not going to back down. If Karzai persists in his defiance there is a strong possibility all Americans will leave. We will return to the chaos of the 1990s and another Pakistan Taliban force will return to conquer Afghanistan.
