Future political scientists will have a wonderful time writing books and articles about the vaudeville show that has been touring America for the past year. It originally featured Michele, Tim, Rick, Rick, Herman, Newt, Mitt, and grandfathr Ron. Today, alas, we are left with Rick, Neswt, Mitt and grand dad Ron. Mitt appeared to be in the lead for securing the presidential nomination, but first Newt got in his way, and last night, Rick had a hat trick with three victories.

Evangelicals and Conservatives manned the barriers and halted the Mitt procession on grounds the millionaire was simply a LIBERAL dressed in Conservative clothes. Rick yelled with boyish enthusiasm, ‘I don’t stand here as the Conservative alternative to Mitt Romney, I stand here to be the conservative alternative to Barack Obama.”

Perhaps, the highlight of the evening was watching Mitt use a teleprompter in order to inform his supporters that Rick had won.

A Federal panel of Judges from the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that California’s Proposition 8 which banned gay and lesbian marriages violated the US Constitution. It also supported the ideas of Judge Vaughan Walker who initially ruled the ban was illegel since it violated the rights of gays and lesbians. Opponents challenged his ruling on grounds that he was biased due to being a gay person.

If we ruled out judges based on their connections, where would that leave Justice Scalia who is a well known supporter of conservative groups? How could Mitt Romney serve as president and sign laws since his heart and soul belong to wealthy and bussinesss people of this land?

There are people who claim to be Jews and there are people who actually are Jews. We Jews have encountered hate and prejudice for over 2,000 years so it is only normal for a JEW to oppose hate and violence against those who can not defend themselves. A Jewish-Arab bilingual school and a Christian monastery in Jerusalem were defaced with graffiti saying, “Death to Arabs” and “Kahane Was Right.” The Monastery received a “Death to Christian” comment by those claimingt to be Jews. The bilingual school contains Jewish and Arab students who work together in a symbol of peace and brotherhood.

Nadia Knani, principal of the elementary school was horrified at such expressions of anger towards “young children from ages 3 to 18(who) study together in coexistence.” Most probably the expressions were written by Jewish West Bank settlers who claim a personal relation with God.

Who are these West Bank creatures of hate? They cerrtainly are NOT Jews. I suspect they would fit into a Nazi society quite well.

The government and society of Iran is in a mess. Within the nation, Ayatollah Khamenei and President Mahmoud Adhmadinejad spend their time arguing as to who has the power and who does not have the power. The Ayatollah so enjoys rubbing the face of President Ahmadinejad into the dirt in order to make clear who calls the shots of power. Now, for the first time in history, the Iranian Parliament wants the President to appear and answer some questions concerning his administration of government.

Economic sanctions have resulted in decline of the economy, growing inflation and realization by the business community that trade increasingly is difficult due to clerical demands for nuclear weapons. New sanctions will be imposed within the coming weeks that make even more difficult trade and commerce.

So, President Ahmadinejad will have to explain to Parliament about “irregularities” in his government. Of course, the main “irregularity” is pursuing nuclear weapons even though it results in economic disaster.

We are so accustomed for anyone who is head of a nation in the developing world to maintain power until either he dies or has a son ready to take over that news of a political leader resigning is shocking. President Mohamed Nasheed, who heads the country of Maldives and had been the first president to be democratically elected, announced his resignation to people of his nation. He had become embroiled ina controversy over arresting a judge. “I don;t want to hurt anuy Maldivian. I feel my staying in power will only increase problems and it will hurt our citizens. So, the best option available to me is to step down.”

Nasheed had gained fame as a human rights activist and a leader in the fight to protect his nation’s environment. He had a judge arrested who freed a government critic on grounds his arrest was illegal. A new democratic society needs critics and even though they utter nonsense, better nonsense than jail.

We offer observations on the human condition from a 21 year old mind trapped in an 81 year old body.

NOBODY ASKED ME BUT

Today is Saturday, I wonder who is ahead in Republican race for president.

I am a kind friend, alas, many are not.

There are those “with ideas,” the problem is all too often we are better off with those without ideas.

Parents tower over children until that magic moment when shorty is the tall one.

I wonder if there are seasons in Heaven.

I am truly impressed by those who wear shorts in winter.

I am the solitary man in life.

When reading, I never hold my hand on a page.

It is important in life to respect the privacy of others.

I never in real life encounter people like those blond haired women on Fox News who carry a perennial smile on their faces.

I would go to hell before eating a McDonald’s hamburger.

I demand of others high moral and ethical standards, that is why I have few friends.

I once stood on a mountain top in the Rockies. So near to God was I.

Rick won big in Minnesota and Missouri and his victorious performance in Colorado indicates that he will continue to be a presence in the Republican race for the presidency. Mitt once again miffed the chance to prove he is popular among Republicans. Actually, it would be wonderful if Mitt actually gained 50% of the vote in any state in the union. Rick gave his normal speech, about his love for America, his love for his wife, his love for his children, his love for his hard working grandfather, his love of standing before a microphone and having people pay attention to his words.

Mitt’s response to getting whipped was to attack Obama and toss around some lies about unemployment. About 10% of Missouri voters voted for Uncommitted. We suggest the Republican Party make contact with this guy and have him enter the race for president.

Clint Eastwood, who gained fame in movies depicting a conservative advocate of law and order, has become the enemy of Republican conservatives who dislike anyone uttering a word of praise regarding the American economy.Eastwood narrated a two minute Chrysler ad in which he praised the Detroit automobile industry for staging a comback due to aid from the Federal government. After all, it was President Obama who fought to provide financial aid to General Motors and prevented a collapse of the entire industry.

Karl Rove, the evil genius behind George Bush, says the ad “offended” him. He is upset that auto executives seek to claim they have the industry back on top. Ironically, Clint Eastwood only once voted for a Democrat for office. Of course, he angered some by saying he wasn’t impressed by Mitt.

In the Conservative world, the sun only shines when a conservative Republican is president.

There are moments when one wonders whether Israel or Iran will be the first to explode the Middle East into violence that will make any sort of peace impossible for decades to come.Iran’s clerics are filled with the spirit of Mohamed, or at least their interpretation of what he would say or do, while Israel leaders just know that God is on their side. The Obama administration imposed even stricter economic sanctions on Iran in a last ditch effort to half the path toward nuclear weapons. These restrictions were also intended to persaude the Israel government of PM Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid military strikes against Iran.

Israel leaders insist they must strike now or it will be too late to avoid preventing Iran from building a nuclear weapon. The European Union announced it would ban import of oil from Iran. US economic sanctions are creating havoc to the Iranian economy. Iranian businessmen are facing economic ruin, Iranian money is less and less valuable, and shortages grow each day.

One is left with the conclusion that if clerics get their bomb, will they also get a collapsed economy? Israel may get their desire for military attacks on Iran and receive in return thousands of missiles aimed at Israeli cities. There are times in life when one gets what he desired and is less successful for it. This is one of those times!

Christianity entered Africa during the nineteenth century and it brought into the lives of Africans some basic beliefs of missionaries, particulary in attitudes toward sexuality. Missionaries imposed strict rules on how to dress and how t5o conduct sexual relations. During the past two decades, fundamentalist ministers from America have spread right wing anti-gay hysteria to many areas of East Africa.

Uganda has been swept for years by an anti-gay hysteria which borders on virulent hatred toward anyone who is a homosexual. A lawmaker has once again introduced to the Uganda parliament a law which has previously been condemned by the US government. A bill reintroduced by David Bahati, lacked the provision that homosexual acts could result in imposition of the death penalty. But, it would still make homosexual acts illegal.

Alas, we have the fruits of Missionaries of Hate in modern day Uganda. Why don’t American missionaries remain at home and simply join the Tea Party, sip some tea and cease drinking from the well of hate?

Anders Behring Breivik is a young man who believes God or someone has annointed him with power to spread the word of God or truth throughout Europe. His first step in the path to honor was to cold bloodedly murder 77 people in Norway, most of him being youths. In an Oslo court, the well dressed young man smirked and laughed as though expecting to be acclaimed by one and all. Breivik insists the murders were simply a strike against “traitors” and an attempt to prevent an “Islamic colonization of Norway.”

Breivik asked the judge to release him and demanded that a military honor be awarded a person who killed 77 innocent people. He provided the court a 1,500 page compedium of nonsense which somehow blames anti-religion Karl Marx with being an ally of Muslims!

He is simply a sad young man living in a sad inner world in which reality never lights the darkness.

The Israel invasion of Gaza led to the UN authorizing an investigation regarding what happened. Given recent events in Syria it would only be appropriate if the UN sanctioned another Goldstone report regarding the murder of thousands by President Assad. Israel frequently complains the UN is quick to issue condemnation of their actions, but rarely conducts any studies pertaining to violations of international law by Arab nations. All too often a UN body containing nations like Sudan which regularly engage in genocide, are involved in developing a report on human rights violation by Israel.

It is time for UN reports on Egypt and Syria which make clear to the world there is one standard in evaluating violations of international law rather than all too often reports which rightfully condemn Israel, but ignore Arab nations. How about asking Richard Goldstone to study Egyptian and Syrian action against their own people??

During most of his administration, Barack Obama has endured constant criticism about wars, about unemployed folk, about whether he was born in America, whether he is a Muslim or Christian and certainly about going into debt. Mitt Romney offers America a solution– make the rich richer and the poor poorer. Why change what is working? Unfortunately, for Mitt, latest polls reveal the president is now more popular than Romney by a vote of 51% to 45%.

The question is: why despite the horrible economic situation do more Americans prefer the current president than a man who claims to be a business genius? Frankly, as long as Mitt Romney gives interviews, talks to audiences, he eventually will say something stupid or insulting to someone. The only reason is Barack Obama is surging ahead is that his opponent is great at surging backward.

Throughout American history, people of European descent headed west into “open land” that was inhabited by animals and a few stray folks called Indians. Americans insisted it was their “manifest destiny” to occupy any land they believed was not being used for useful purposes. OK, so they had to kill or place on reservations those who apparently did not grasp that God was on the other side.

In Israel, those who have God on their side head east to the “barren lands” of the West Bank which has a lot of empty space and a few people who claim to own the land. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon visited Israel and made clear, “all Israeli settlements are contrary to international law.” OK, so they go against international law, but does Mr. moon have any statement from God if kicking people off their land is against what He desires?

Heck, if you have God on your side it is OK to start a war.

Thousands of people have demonstrated in the streets if Moscow concerning their demand for a democratic society-Now! Boris Titov, a leader of the business community is rather upset. “The most important point for citizen activism should not lead to political instability which would be a negative scenario. Dialogue is needed as the basis of reason and intelligence and not of emotion and political ambition.”

Let me get this straight. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin who controls the government, the media, and the electoral process is determined to be elected as president. If anyone is guilty of “political ambition,” it certainly is the ex-KGB agent.

Titov does not wish protesters to rush “into political liberalization.” He wants them to “think everything through and allow conditions to mature.” I get it, when Putin completes his latest twelve year run at running the country, MAYBE, he will allow someone else to be the president. Just have patience.

Prime Minister Recep Erdogan increasingly seeks to instill spirit which is more Muslim than Turkish. Kemal Kilicdaroglu, head of an important opposition party sharply condemned the drift toward making religion the center of his nation. “At work is an insidious attack on the rule of law and order in Turkey’s ruling party.” He pointed out that hundreds of journalists, publishers, military officers, members of the academic community and politicians have been either arrested or charged with crimes.

The Turkish economy is proceeding towards creating a modern society. This requires working with people who are not Muslim. It also means if Turkey desires membership in the European Union it must abandon this assault on democratic forces.

Leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood spent almost half a century on the outside gazing through the window loaded with goods like being in power and living off the fat of the land, and now that the Brotherhood is inside the restaurant it only makes sense to enjoy the fruits of power. Mohamed El-Beltagui, argues since the Muslim Brotherhood “paved the way for a revolution, ” they have a right to celebrate controlling Parliament and all the goodies that go along with running a government.

As thousands protested the massacre at the soccer match and blamed the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces(SCAF) for its failure in preventing bloodshed, dozens of MB volunteers blocked the way of those who actually began the revolution because they wanted their people to make decisions, not some mob of protesters.

Alas, it was just a few months ago the Muslim Brotherhood was linking arms with protesters and demanding democracy. Today, they demand obedience. Will there eventually be protesters in Tahrir Square protesting against the MB? Time will tell.

One can only cry for the beloved country of Syria in these times of violence and oppression. The world was prepared to offer support for those being murdered by President Bashar al-Assad, but Russia and China vetoed any attempt at action in the UN Security Council. Naturally, two nations which are essentially under the control of authoritarian folk refused to allow action against an authoritarian ruler. Even as they issued their veto, guns in Syria were being replaced by mortar shells and hundreds were now dead.

Death is now the common event in Syria. Those who dare expressing ideas for their rights are killed. It would be wonderful if hundreds of imams from the Middle East marched into Syria in the name of their religion, but we doubt if that event will ever occur. Where are demonstrations in support for Syria in Muslim nations is the real question? Of course, if some newspaper printed a cartoon depicting Mohammad, they would be in the streets.

We offer observations on the human condition from a 21 year old mind trapped in an 81 year old body.

NOBODY ASKED ME BUT

One never has to ask a child twice to jump up and down.

I prefer watching faces on TV rather than listening to the babble of words coming from them.

Newt Gingrich never met an idea that wasn’t his.

So nice to see children eating breakfast with mom and dad.

It has been years since I last saw a rainbow. Where have they gone?

I insist on very hot coffee in the morning.

To think is to require solitude.

Republicans are concerned about Big Government but have no problem with Big Money.

A boss explaining to employees is a boss who is certain.

I have always loved bananas.

Mystery of life: why are there dark clouds?

I encounter few who think as I do. I wonder if that is an example of good or bad news.

There is a moment when it hits 1:15 p.m. when all is quiet.

To be intelligent, one must know the origin of how mind evolves.

To hope is to be alive.

It is now clear that Mitt Romney is definitely the choice of women who work in Nevada’s houses of ill repute. Together with his fellow Mormons and those who believe our nation needs wealthy men in charge of our economy, the man from Utah became the man of the hour in the state of prostitutes and gambling. Ironically, latest polls reveal that 41% of people on Facebook interpreted the endorsement of Donald Trump for his fellow businessman as a negative.

Newt once again got neutered, Ron Paul continued to secure votes from those who have absolutely no idea about modern economics, and Rick Santorum once again told the story of his hard working grandfather. It makes no difference if Rick wins or loses, we must hear THE STORY.

It continues to be symbolic that Mitt Romney has yet to win at least 50% of the vote in any primary. I wonder why?

During most of the 20th century the nation of Turkey was governed by those seeking to maintain the separation of church and state, or should we say, between the mosque and state. About a decade ago the Justice and Development Party(AKP) gained political power in the country. It presented itself as a moderate Muslim party that respected the rights of those who were either not Muslim or Muslims who prefer separation of mosque and state. As each election has led to increased voting power, the AKP has become more and more vocal concerning its religious goals.

Prime Minister Recep Erdogan made clear what he desired. “Do you expect the conservative democrat AK Party to raise atheist generations? This may be your objective, but not ours. We will raise a generation that is conservative and democratic and embraces the values and historical principles of this nation.”

I regret to inform PM Erdogan, but in a “democratic society, ” children are NOT raised to believe in the philosophy and values of A political party. If they are raised in the Erdogan approach it is a dictatorial society.

In the good old days, all Vladimir Putin had to do was suggest to those in government jobs how wonderful it would be if they thronged the streets shouting his name. Over the weekend in Moscow and estimated 120,000 people gather in sub zero temperature to shout defiance of Putin. An opposition leader tore up his picture shouting, “Russia Without Putin.” An eight metre condom with a sign, “protect us from Putin” was held aloof. Vladimir had previously mistaken ribbons for condoms.

Oh, there was a pro-Putin rally, mainly attended by civil servants who were ordered to get the heck out of the office and go freeze their butts in order to give Putin some good news. Latest polls show that Putin, who ordinarily secures 90% of the vote has a rating under 50%.

We have a hunch some interesting manipulation will occur with voting in Russia.

All religions at one point or another have justified horrible crimes against humanity in the name of God. For some reason, there are those who believe God worries about someone being gay or someone drinking or using pot. Unfortunately, there are members of the Muslim religion who believe family has the right to kill a child in the name of “honor.” Of course, “honor” means the child refuses to adhere to traditional beliefs as defined by the family. In Canada, father, mother and son, killed three daughters on grounds their behavior violated the concept of ”honor.”

The Islamic Supreme Council of Canada issued a statement which condemns any form of honor killing. “There is no justification for honor killings, domestic violence, child abuse and misogyny in Islam.” This statement was signed by 30 imams in North America. Now, if we could only get imams all over the world to sign such edicts, perhaps family violence can be halted.

We are approaching the end of a year of conflict in Syria during which time its President Bashar al-Assad has conducted a war of violence against his own people. Today things became worse than ever. In the city of Homs, government mortar batteries open fire on the town and an estimated 200 people are dead and hundreds others wounded. Initial reports suggest the artillery assault may have arisen over the presence of Army defectors who were setting up check points. Regardless, it was innocent civilians who were murdered by their own president.

As the Syrian government slaughtered its people, Russia fought a battle to halt passage of any form of tough resolution by the UN Security Council. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin prefers allowing tyrants to remain in office and fears once the UN gets involved in ending such dictatorial governments, they might glance in his direction.

By the way, where are imam led demonstrations against the murder of fellow Muslims? Perhaps, if Syrian rebels waved cartoons they might receive support from their fellow Muslims.

Mitt Romney won the Florida primary by spending five times the amount of money that his competitors were able to scrap together. His ads portrayed Newt Gingrich as a man lacking moral standards, a man who was condemned by the House of Representatives and hammered away at Newt’s financial connections. In a recent interview Mitt emphasized that if you think he conducts a dirty campaign, just wait until Barack Obama gets going.

“No question that Barack Obama billion dollar machine will organize the most vitriolic, spiteful campaign in American history.” An aide added, “they are going to spend and smear their way to the White House.”

I guess Barack Obama has a great teacher named Mitt Romney when it comes to conducting campaigns filled with a vitriolic and spiteful tone. Just ask Newt Gingrich if you disagree with the previous sentence.

The Republican party has a nightmare– unemployment rates have continued to fall under the presidency of Barack Obama. Latest figures indicate it dropped from 8.5% to 8.2%. Naturally, Republicans who have been denouncing economic policies of the president attributed the lower rate as due to what Congressman Eric Cantor described as “finally” having Democrats follow Republican policies.

Congressman John Boehner made clear “we must do better,” and Mitt Romney emphasized the “president’s policies have prevented a full recovery. I am certain if the rate drops to five percent, Mitt and Newt and John and Eric will argue that credit belongs to Republicans who claim anything and everything Barack does is wrong.
