As a child I learned the story of the Alamo when a handful of brave Americans held off the large Mexican army for several days before being overwhelmed and killed. Today, outside the city of Tikrit in northern Iraq there area about 1,000 members of ISIS hold up inside the city and ready to die for their cause, just as did the Americans at the Alamo. Apparently, there are over 25,000 soldiers in the Iraq army and nmow they have an opportunity to defeat 1,000 of the bad guys. During the initial stage of this battle, the good guys did advance and now they have cornered the bad guys. Apparently, the good guys appear stalled and they are hesitating about banging away into the main city. Reports indicate the bad guys are ready to die and are begging the good guys to come get them.
This story is repeated time after time. Bad guys ready to die, and good guys ready to hold off from being brave. There is no question that bad guys in the Middle East BELIEVE in their cause. They are ready to go to heaven or wherever good guys posing as bad guys wind up. Iraqi forces have now summoned the US air force to blast away. There is no question they will send thousands of missiles and bombs into Tikrit. The real question is why do the good guys lack determination in this struggle. It is clear that until members of the Iraq army come to believe in their cause, such hesitation will continue. Who knows, perhaps in this case the guys inside the Alamo will survive!
