Once Again, Israel-Palestine Issues Remain Issues

It took fifty years to finally resolve the conflict between Cuba and the US, but it is now over sixty years without a resolution of the conflict between Israel and Palestinians. There is no doubt for most of that time Palestinians lacked leadership willing to resolve the conflict, but there are now Palestinians seeking to achieve peace with Israel. Palestine leaders are asking the United Nations to help resolve their problems with Israel. Here are some suggestions:

1. Israel settlements on the West Bank should be consolidated into an area of about five percent of the land.

2. Israel and Palestine would enter into an economic Union to simulate both economies.

3. A Water Authority would be created to handle this important issue. Jordan could join in handling this issue.

4. A new technology University would be created to bring together Palestinians and Israelis.

5. A joint Israel and Palestinian Armed force would be charged with assuring peace on the West Bank.

6. Israel would pay a billion dollars a year to provide homes for refugees returning to the West Bank.

Some concrete steps for peace.

Big Troubles In Israel

There once was a nice Jewish man named Albert Einstein who endeavored to explain the meaning of the universe. He was also a supporter of Israel, but I wonder if he would support the Israel of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu? I suspect the people of Israel could use someone who might explain the origin and development of the current crisis in which Palestinians are using various strategies in order to vent their anger and frustration. I do realize anyone who dares to write that Palestinians are “angry” or “frustrated” is undoubtedly a self hating Jew. Yesterday, a member of the Palestinian government was killed by Israel soldiers. Ziad Abu Ein was engaged in a terrible display of this Palestinian anger by endeavoring to plant trees in an area that Jewish settlers were once again taking land that originally belonged to Palestinians. So Palestinians are crashing cars into Israelis, throwing acid at innocent Jewish families, and yelling and screaming.

So, if Albert Einstein was alive today, he probably would offer this piece of advice:

1. Sit down with Palestinian authorities and announce that Israel will recognize the new nation of Palestine.

2. Agree to evacuate all but 5% of the West Bank and place all Jewish settlements in that 5% area.

3. Announce that Palestinian refugees would be allowed to return to the West Bank area and a yearly $1 billion Israel fund would provide for 200,000 a year to come home.

4. Establish an Economic Union with Palestinians, Jordan and Egypt in order to foster economic cooperation.

It does not require an Einstein to figure out how to end this anger!

Plant A Tree and Die!

I have frequently been told that I am a “self hating Jew” because my dream is for Israel to exist in peace and cooperation with all nations in the Middle East. I have worked in the field of Holocaust education for over fifty years and did study in Israel, but according to the folks at AIPAC, unless I accept any and all actions by West Bank settlers and the Israel army against Palestinians, it is clear that I hate the state of Israel. Frankly, I am sick and tired of the unJewish actions by West Bank settlers who seize land from Palestinians, destroy their crops and insist these actions are necessary. Recently on the West Bank, a horse was stolen, by you know who, which resulted in angry actions by West Bank settlers. Zaid Abu Ain, a Minister in the government of the Palestinian Authority went to plant some trees. Yes, that was the threatening action he posed to the state of Israel.

It is clear the Minister was shoved, had arms placed around his throat, and wound up on the ground. He is now dead. According to the Israel newspaper, Haaretz, “after Abu Ain was hit by an IDF soldier” he fell to the ground. I am certain AIPAC will insist that once trees are allowed to be planted, the next step in Palestinian terrorism is murder of innocent Israel children. The worse threat to peace in the Middle East is AIPAC, and naturally the worse threat to a US Congressman who supports peace in the Middle East is AIPAC raising money to defeat him or her.

Death In A Synagogue

There is a pattern of hate in the world. Whenever the Israel government appears to assume an aggressive stance and attack Palestinians, there are people who assume that all Jews are responsible for what occurs in Israel. For some reason, Irish people in the United States of America have no connection as to what happens in Ireland, but the concept that Jews all over the world have a connection with one another still lives on within the Christian and Muslim worlds. Levi Rosenvial, age 22, was praying in a Chabad synagogue in Brooklyn when he was attacked by a man shouting, “I want to kill the Jew.” he proceeded to stab the man at prayer. Actually, there is something ironic in seeking to murder a person who is praying to his or her God. I always assumed the purpose of praying was to show respect.

It turns our that Calvin Peters is a well known criminal with a record a mile long. After the stabbing he was confronted with police and charged them. The result was that Calvin died of a bullet in his chest. Just another victim of hate and anger and lack of any sense of reality. I have no doubt that another Jew somewhere in the world will die because of some action of Israel. Oh, if Jews could only be treated as the Irish are!

Israel Joins The Crowded Skies

The government of Israel completed its bombing in Gaza which meant that Israel planes no longer were engaged in any conflict. However, when a nation has nothing else to do, there is always the war in Syria for an enterprising country seeking to enjoy the benefits of dropping bombs. Iranian planes are now over Iraq, and they drop bombs on the bad people known as ISIS because the bad people are Sunnis and we Shiites know the only recourse is to kill bad Sunnis. American planes are bombing in Syria, Saudi planes are bombing, British planes are bombing, Canadian planes are bombing, French planes are bombing so why not some Israel planes in action? The most important element in Syria is that it has provided all sorts of pilots to get some practice in bombing. Naturally, they only bomb the bad people. Collateral damage is not in their vocabulary.

Israel Intelligence Minister Yuval Stenitz insists the reason for bombing stems from his nation’s policy of not allowing bad people to get in possession of bad weapons of war. “We have a firm policy of preventing all possible transfers of sophisticated weapons to terrorist organizations.” Sounds logical. So, Israel planes bombed the airport in Damascus. The Syrian government wants the world to know that Israel attacked in order to “help terrorists in Syria.” I guess these days the bad guys can be good guys or the reverse. Depends on who is bombing and who is bombed.

Israel Status Quo

The pattern of how Israel responds to issues in the Middle East continues along the path of “let’s pretend what we have been doing can continue being done for at least a hundred years.” In February, 1953, Daniel Malan, newly elected head of the South African government introduced the idea of apartheid which separated whites and blacks. For those who did not believe two people inhabiting the same area of land could remain separated, he promised that for generations to come the idea of apartheid would endure, and thus black skinned people could remain passive as second class citizens. Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to transform Israel into a “Jewish State” in which there are citizens with certain rights, and non-Jews with fewer rights. Regardless of which words are used, this is simply another version of apartheid.

Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and Financial Minister Yair Lipid, who oppose this action have been dismissed. Bibi Netanyahu will call for a new election which he will most probably win. Daniel Malan won election after election until one day reality set in and apartheid crumbled. Believe it or not, Bibi, but blacks did not go on a rampage and kill whites. Both learned to live in peace with one another. Eventually, that will occur in Israel.

Hate Keeps Hate Alive In Israel-Palestinian Conflict

There comes a moment in any conflict when arguments as to who is responsible for the origin of the dispute become boring and repetitive. The Israel government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has displayed scant interest in resolving disputes with Palestinians. Palestinians have reached the point in which committing some act of violence appears to make sense even though such behavior will never resolve anything. During the past few months eleven Jewish Israelis(always remember that twenty percent of Israelis are NOT Jewish) while twelve Palestinians have been killed. Each side is absolutely convinced that not only is right on their side, but also God. Jews insist that God gave them the land, and Muslims insist that Allah made the land sacred and Muslim. PM Netanyahu is demanding that Israel be proclaimed a JEWISH state with special rights for Jews. OK, so 20 percent are not Jews, no one is perfect.

The original dream of those who created the state of Israel was a home for Jews and one in which people of ALL religions would be at peace with one another. After all, the United States of America originally was founded by Protestants seeking a homeland. At this point in time, American Jews constitute less than two percent of the population. How about proclaiming that America is the national homeland of Christians?

Blow Up Houses To Display Power

Mohamed Abu Jamal is not anyone that those reading this blog know or will ever know. He is an elderly man who once had a son. The son is now dead. Together with his cousin, his son, Ghassan took a gun and meat cleavers to a synagogue where they brutally murdered five people in Jerusalem because they were Jews. The Israel government has a policy of responding to the murder of Jews in Israel, it simply blows up the homes of parents since, naturally, the innocent parent is responsible for the actions of their children. Mohamed will now only lose his home, but his means of work and will be expelled from the city of Jerusalem in which he has lived all his life. I assume the theory of this action is that if you raise a son who kills then you must be punished. I have no idea as to whether or not Mr. Jamal believes in hatred towards Jews, frankly, that is of no importance since he made the mistake of raising a son who committed a murder –of a Jew. By the way, if a Jew in Israel kills a Muslim no home is destroyed.

How about:

1. Asking Mr. Jamal to join with other parents of those who kill the innocent and work for peace and reconciliation?

2. Establishing a law that punishes blowing up the home of those who murder, regardless of their religion?

What Is The Point Of This Bill?

People of the Jewish faith control every important position in the government of Israel, they control the economic life of the nation, they control education, they even control which land owned by Muslims or Christians can be taken over, and yet that is still not enough for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Reuven Rivlin is a conservative, but he is also President of the nation of Israel. He is completely confused about new legislation being pushed by Prime Minister Netanyahu which would define the nation of Israel as a “Jewish nation state.” As he notes, the founders of the state of Israel were very clear that it was a nation in which minorities enjoyed full equal rights and Arabic would also be a national language. As Rivlin points out the founders insisted that “the Arab public not feel like Jews felt in the Diaspora. However, Benjamin Netanyahu has worked hard to frighten Jews throughout Israel and the world there is need to define Israel as a “Jewish state.”

If Israel is not defined as a Jewish state, then what exactly will happen? At this moment, TWENTY PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE IN ISRAEL ARE MUSLIMS OR CHRISTIANS! According to Netanyahu “national rights” must be reserved for Jews. Why? How about defining the United States of America as a “Christian state?” After all, Jews in America only constitute two percent of the population. This bill is madness gone mad. As Rivlin poses: What is the point of this bill?

So, Who Are The Violent Folk In Israel?

Anyone who has studied the history of the Middle East since the creation of the state of Israel is quite aware that during the past sixty odd years, Arab nations have repeatedly muffed opportunity after opportunity to resolve their conflict with Israel on reasonable terms. Of course, there also have been groups in Israel which have no desire for peace with Palestinians unless their opponents completely accept their ideas. There is no doubt Palestinians have resorted to violence in order to end their conflict with Israel. I regret to inform those supporting the state of Israel, that violence has also been a weapon of that government. Homes of Palestinians have been blown up, campaigns in Gaza resulted in the death of thousands of Palestinians along with the death of dozens of Israelis. Neither side can bask in the glory of always being on the side of peace.

Two Palestinians brutally murdered four rabbis in a synagogue. Of course, twenty years ago a Jew entered a mosque and machined gunned to death over twenty Muslims engaged in the act or prayer. That person today is regarded as a “hero” by some Israelis. When it comes to “violence” each side has a case to be made that their opponents are violent people. The Israel Shin Bet secret service claims there is a plot to murder Avigdor Lieberman. I do not doubt the existence of such a plot. He is a controversial individual and has angered Palestinians by his violent words of anger toward them.

The time has come to cease arguing as to which side is, “violent,” and get down to the issue of how to end VIOLENCE! This would require patience, and lots of compromise on the part of both sides.
