The Republican party is prone to boast how the United States of America is an “exceptional nation” which is not bound by international rules and regulations. International law states that foreign person who is arrested in a strange land has the right to contact someone from their country’s Embassy in order to secure legal help. Humberto Leal, a Mexican national was arrested for the brutal murder of a young girl in Texas, but was never allowed to speak with someone from the Mexican Embassy. Governor Rick Perry, who has denied clemency to 230 cases during his ten year reign as governor of the state. He refuses to hold off the execution of Leal despite pleas by the US State Department. Donald Verrilli, Solicitor of the US, warns there will be serious international complications if the execution takes place. It would result in lessening “the ability of American citizens traveling abroad to have the benefits of consular assistance in the event of detention.”

Heck, we Tea Party folk threw out the British and we don’t want any “furriners” telling us what to do. Anyway, who told an American to spend time with foreigners!

My pap walked a thousand miles to get a boat which took him to America. So does an illegal immigrant walk hundreds of miles. They are my brothers and sisters–WELCOME TO THE PROMISED LAND!

I am an immigrant in heart and soul. So are you. Only you don’t know it.

Each person whether from Asia or Africa or Europe is an illegal immigrant. Heck, the Indians came from Asia and never had the legal right to enter.

Alexander Hamilton was an immigrant who created our banking system.

My uncle was an illegal immigrant from Germany in 1919. The immigration people caught up with him in 1922, The said: “Mr. Zuckerman, you are a hard working baker with two nice children. Study to become a citizen and when you become one, vote.” He did what they asked. How many born here vote in every election?

If I turn my back on an illegal immigrant, I turn my back on myself.

By the way, has anyone ever seen the birth certificate of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Andrew Johnson, Andrew Jackson, etc…?

I am an American and so are any dwelling in our nation.

I once stood on a street in Frankfurt, Germany where my uncles and aunts used to live. I cried in gratitude they had been able to flee Nazi Germany in time. Yes, they were immigrants.

During World War I, one of my uncles fought in the German army, one in the Austrian army, one in the Russian army, and one in the American army. We are an all American family.

I do not agree with many of Ron Paul’s views on politics or social policy, but one must admit he is the only American political leader who is willing to speak the unmentionable–it is time to legalize drugs and end the madness which envelops so many parts of the Western Hemisphere. Yesterday in Mexico they found 38 bodies strewn along a major highway, people who, either were in a gang shoot-out or happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. During the past four years over 38,000 innocent people have died due to drug lords and drug wars. And, the American people sleep peacefully, unaware their desire for drugs has devastated large areas of Latin America and created two bit thugs who parade around with hundreds of millions which can be used to pay off politicians and police.

The United States lost the drug war during Prohibition and finally admitted the episode was a mistake. It is time to admit another mistake and legalize drugs by placing sales in the hands of the government. Low cost drugs would be available to anyone who enters a drug program or we could simply offer free drugs to heavy users in exchange for rehabilitation programs. The flip side is saving billions in criminal costs, prison construction, and revenue by the sale of drugs.

END THE MADNESS!!

Carlos Pascual is the American ambassador to Mexico and he does have a grasp as to what must be done to curb drug wars in the country. As a result of Wikileaks, he has been asked to vacate the job seek other employment. What was his crime? Pascual was highly critical of how American and Mexican officials handle the drug wars. He blasted the lack of coordination in Mexico of how to deal with drug lords and was highly doubtful if honesty was the norm in Mexico and expressed concerns about corruption and inefficiency. Naturally, that was the last thing President Felipe Calderon wanted to hear, given that thousands of innocent people have died during his ineffective campaign to curb the spread of gangs and drugs.

There are two issues related to drugs in America and Mexico. One, the need to legalize drugs in the United States and cease creating conditions that allow criminals to become enormously wealthy. Second, confront the issue of widespread corruption in Mexico. Perhaps, if we did number one, we would not have to worry about number 2.

Just when we thought American politicians had run out of creative ideas on how to handle issues and conflicts in our society, a young legislator from Kansas has come to the fore with new solutions to issues of illegal immigrants. Kansas Rep. Virgil Peck stepped up with a new idea concerning the presence of illegal immigrants. Listen to these words of wisdom from a man who stands out for his daring ideas. “Looks to me, if shooting these feral hogs works, we may have found a solution to our illegal illegal immigrant problem.” Another Republican legislator thought he was joking, but Virgil made clear: “I was just speaking like a southeast Kansas person.” One has to admit Virgil is an innovative thinker. One has to admit that Virgil not only speaks what is in his heart but the hearts of many other Americans.

God bless Virgil for revealing the true feelings of so many members of the Tea Party who lack the guts to tell it like it is! Who knows, perhaps America has finally found a man who can beat Barack Obama. The good news is Virgil was born in Kansas, not in Kenya.

A bill is winding its way through the legislature of Arizona which would require hospitals to notify the immigration and naturalization department if they find an illegal immigrant in the building. We assume legislators would favor the following:

Patient: Doctor, will I live?
Doctor: Before I can answer a question from someone who might be an illegal alien, I must first find out if you were born in this country?
P: My folks brought me here when I was a one year old.
D: So, you are not a natural born American? This means your disease could be a foreign born one.
P: I have spent my entire life in Arizona.
D: The law says I can not provide services to an illegal person.
P: But, I was told there had to be a heart operation.
D: Yes, without a heart operation you will die.
P: So, are you saying that you will do nothing and allow me to die?
D: I resent your comment. I am doing something, I am telling you that we can not operate on illegal immigrants.
P: Without the operation I will die!
D: Perhaps, the next time you will tell your parents not to bring you along with them into America.
P: But, I was only one.
D: A one year old can think. You should have thought more carefully about what you were doing.
P: Please don’t let me die.
D: In this country, we want to devote our hospitals for the care of native born Americans.
P: But, I will die.
D: I just got word, the INS will be here to pick up the body.
P: Body?
D: Sorry, our grave yards only accept legal folk.
P: I thought Americans were Christians.
D: We are, we love all Christians born in America!

Every so often one encounters stories which vividly depict the cruelty and hypocrisy of those opposed to immigrants. In the United States right wing Republicans are against the Dream Act which would allow children brought to America at a very young age and who have spent their lives as Americans to be eligible for citizenship. A case of an eight year old boy in the Netherlands highlights the lack of morality and spirituality of those who want to deport immigrants. An eight year old boy from Sri Lanka was brought by his parents who illegally entered the Netherlands several years ago, and today the boy is dying of a brain tumor. Immigration Minister Gerd Leers is reviewing the case. Reviewing! The boy WILL DIE. You cannot claim he will be a drain on your budget for years, he is going to shortly die.

I always give the ‘Jesus Test” to cases like this. What would Jesus Christ do in this case if he was minister of immigration?

Every so often the madness that is drugs shoves a fist into one’s face because it becomes clear those who use drugs are not the only ones suffering because of addictions. A fourteen year old boy, known simply as, “El Ponchis” told Mexican authorities of how he was recruited by drug lords and compelled to perform murders and torture on humans. He was arrested with his teen age sister at an airport. Apparently, he became a hired killer about age ten, and as he told authorities: “I participated in four executions, but I did it drugged and under threat that if I didn’t they would kill me.” His voice in describing crimes in which he beheaded people was calm, sort of matter-of-fact and absent any sign of remorse at what he did in life. the boy was born in America and sent back to Mexico to live with grandparents when he was seized by drug lords. Together with his sister, they worked for Julio “El Negro” Padilla who was involved in a drug war against other gangs.

The boy’s sister described being part of a girl’s gang that was responsible for dumping dead bodies. According to the boy, “when we don’t find the rivals, we kill innocent people, maybe a construction worker or a taxi cab driver.” They are lost children of our refusal to legalize drugs and end drug wars. They are victims who kill the innocent, but those responsible in Washington D.C. will never see the inside of a jail despite their refusal to bring peace to the minds of children.

Border police and soldiers discovered a tunnel leading from Mexico to the United States that was the length of six football fields, and at the end of this pathway in San Diego was a warehouse that contained about 20 tons of marijuana. Mexican police were able to find the entrance warehouse which had 10 tons of marijuana. In a sense, finding a tunnel is not a victory, but in reality simply evidence our drug laws and drug counter-actions are not working. OK, they will destroy this tunnel, along with the other 75 that have been found, but tomorow there will be another tunnel, and the day after still another.

When will the American people wake up to the reality one can not stop the use of drugs anymore than we were able in the 1920s to stop consumption of alcohol. We can continue blowing up tunnels or we can begin blowing up laws that do not work. End drug laws, make all drugs legal, tax use of drugs as we tax use of alcohol and have an extra $50 billion a year to use for important things like — developing new industries that create jobs.

Mexico is in virtual chaos due to drug wars raging between rival gangs and the past weekend massacre of fifteen young people at a party is undoubtedly linked to one drug lord or another. California is the first state in this nation which has the courage to confront the stupidity of our drug laws that have transformed ordinary honest citizens into criminals. Prohibition did the same for a decade and the result was lawlessness and corruption of police forces and government. Proposition 19 will be a California referendum issue this November. If adopted, it will be legal in California for those 21 years or older to grow or possess marijuana and it would allow local government to license and tax retail outlets which are selling marijuana. An estimated $2 billion will be collected by the government.

The United States did NOT have any drug laws until 1914 when the initial ones were passed in order to criminalize Chinese immigrants who smoked opium. In reality, marijuana in this country is available to anyone. Reality is that middle class people who use drugs rarely wind up in court, and the 750,000 currently in jails for drug offenses are either from poor white or black and Hispanic backgrounds.

Let common sense rule. Allow California to take the first step in ending Mexican drug lords. Legalize drugs and end our madness.

Mexico is a failed state by any definition as to what is a successful state. Drug gangs run rampant through streets of its cities, mayors who dare oppose them are killed and their heads delivered to the nearest police station. The town of Praxedis which is located on the border of the US and thus the scene of violence is attempting a new approach. A twenty year old criminology student, Marisol Valles Garcia, has been appointed to head the police force. Her twelve man force is expected to handle drug gangs which ride through the town in SUVs and carry high caliber rifles.

The problem can not be solved by a sixty year old police chief, let alone a twenty year old one. Solutions begin in the United States, not in Mexico. America must legalize drugs and initiate the process of ending drug cartels. Unfortunately, the children can not lead the way, it must begin in the halls of Congress.

David and Tiffany Hartley went on jet skis across Falcon Lake which lies on the border of Mexico because they wanted to photograph a sunken church. Nothing much out of the ordinary if these were normal times along the border of Mexico and the United States. But, we inhabit the fruits of American stupidity. Secretary Hillary Clinton termed the shooting of David Hartley by drug dealers an example of “barbarism.” They apparently thought Mr. Hartley was from another gang or was somehow engaged in spying on their activities. Clinton is correct, there is “barbarism,” but it does not alone stem from actions of drug dealers. It also emanates from Americans who want drugs and refuse to legalize the use of those drugs. Their denial of reality has spawned a war that constantly claims innocent victims such as Mr. Hartley. A Mexican policeman who was investigating the case wound minus a head which was delivered to a nearby Mexican army post. It was a warning to stay out of our affairs.

The barbarism of drug wars and the death of thousands will not halt until the United States comes to its senses and legalizes drugs. Our love of drugs has enabled drug lords to proliferate and kill thousands of innocent people. Legalize drugs and we end barbarism in the western hemisphere.

The United States of America is a major center of drugs. The American people insist on making it illegal for people to purchase drugs and the result has been to create chaos in many Latin America. Mexico is over-run by drug lords who use terror, torture and brutality in order to enforce their control of many cities. Mexican police found the body of Mayor Gustavo Sanchez in the back of a pick up truck and it was soon determined he had been stoned to death. He was mayor of Tancitario, a town of 26,000 people where soldiers earlier destroyed more than 20 meth labs during an operation that led to the deaths of several policemen and many drug members. Last year the head of Tancitario’s City Council was killed and over 60 policemen fired for failure to maintain law and order.

The fault lies not in Mexico, but in the United States. Until America ends its drug laws and thus ends power of drug lords, death and destruction of towns will continue. As Shakespeare might have put it, “the fault lies not in the stars, but in ourselves.”

Martha Garnia has discovered a way in which one can be hired at a regular salary in the Border Patrol and be able to purchase to very large homes, two Hummers, a Cadillac and take a few trips around the world on cruises. This comes across as reasonable behavior, after all, according to the Tea Party we need more people in the Border Patrol in order to help protect the American economy. I didn’t realize until reading about Ms. Garnia what the Tea Party meant regarding having more people in the Border Patrol in order to safeguard our economy. Heck, if we can hire a few more thousand Border Patrol people, car sales would zoom, the tourist sector of our economy would show dramatic results and prosperity would return to the nation. OK, so maybe a few Border Patrol people hang around with drug dealers, so what. Christine O’Donnell hangs around with witches and no one says there is anything wrong. In fact, the Tea Party regards her as the embodiment of what this nation needs –God fearing Americans who dance at witch ceremonies in the company of Border Patrol personnel.

Is there anything wrong with this story? Makes sense to me.

The never ceasing drug wars continue in Mexico as drug lords and the government clash over power. Since 2006, at least 26,000 innocent Mexican citizens have died because drugs are an important product in America and most inhabitants of the USA lack the courage to put an end to making use of drugs a crime. Yesterday, Mexican troops clashed once again with drug dealers and killed 22 of the criminals. Of course, the problem is there are just as many drug dealers in the Mexican army as there are outside the armed forces. Mexican authorities insisted the dead WERE drug dealers, and WERE members of drug gangs. We would like to believe these attacks are actually fights between drug lords and government forces although it could be just as likely they are conflicts between drug lords inside the Mexican army who are fighting rivals.

The bottom line is the United States must FINALLY LEGALIZE DRUGS. The only way to end this senseless war is to legalize drugs and allow its free transit across national boundaries. Years ago, gambling in lotteries was a crime, we legalized it and halted crime. Years ago, betting on horse races could be a crime, we legalized such betting and crime rates dropped. Got the picture!

The nights all too often are silent as people cluster in their homes fearing to venture into the dark since who knows today’s enemy of the drug cartel. A church is torched, a mayor disappears, a doctor and his family mysteriously disappear, heads are found on a street corner and nothing is said or done by the government. Ostensibly, the police and military are conducting a vigorous war against drug lords, but as deaths mount, it is sometimes confusing as to who exactly government forces were fighting. The city of Juarez has grown to 1.3 million and along with this upsurge in population has simultaneously a rise in murders. Since 2008 over six thousand people have died while in New York City during the same time period there were less than two thousand murders. People attempt to avoid discussing what is the number one topic in their minds–the conflict between armed forces and drug forces. Over 26,000 people have died over the past few years in this ongoing dilemma of how to end America’s dependence on drugs in a non-violent manner.

A few voices raise the spectre of reason as a solution. What if the United States legalized the use of some drugs? It is difficult to imagine the situation being any worse than what currently stands for justice. Over 700,000 people are in jail due to some drug bust. Unfortunately, as prison population soars, there is no concerted effort to get the American people to recognize drugs must be legalized along with rehabilitation programs.

We suggest on your next trip to Mexico it might pay to cast your gaze onto desert areas and pick out the headless bodies strewn around the place just waiting to be picked up by American border patrols. It’s easy to spot them, just look up in the sky and see if birds are circling a particular area of the desert for some refreshments. According to Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, there are headless bodies all over the desert, apparently placed there by drug lords who are killing off the Mexican population. Or, it could be that crows and other birds are working in alliance with drug dealers and must be fed. Brewer, who is the new poster girl for Tea Party and Fox News fighters to protect out border against “them,” did admit her statement “was an error” and she “misspoke,” but the bottom line is this POLITICIAN will say anything, do anything in order to get elected. The people of Arizona be damned as far as she is concerned, she is wiling to make every person in the state carry documents proving they belong there because such language resonates well in the right wing media.

When I was a little boy, my Jewish mother in the summer always referred to me as, “the little black boy.” My question to Governor Brewer is: “if I happen to be driving through Arizona in the summer, will I be picked up on grounds that I am “suspicious?” Being picked up does not bother me so much as having my body wind up in the desert without its beautiful face on top of it. Governor Brewer, does your state guarantee we can keep our head on when we drive through it?

President Barack Obama never met a n issue that he could not offer two views on how to resolve it, but never inform the world which of the two was consistent with his own ideas. Americans, as usual during an economic crisis, are expressing concerns about immigration from Mexico. Although, the return of illegal immigrants has risen during his two years in office, Obama prefers waffling to explaining reality to the American public. He has decided to demonstrate his desire to close the border by deploying more patrols to the area, including National Guard units, and will shortly authorize the use of drone planes along the border. The Texas governor who is against any use of Federal money, is furious at the thought drone planes would be stationed in Arizona, and is demanding they be where all planes must be housed, in the beloved land of Texas. It is a matter of money, not principle, which is the main principle proclaimed by Tea Party supporters.

Illegal immigrants are not taking jobs from native born Americans, they do the dirty work of society that nice white and black boys and girls do not wish to do. Now, if Texas Republicans could find a way to make money out of illegal immigrants, they will line up for a handout.

During the past four years at least 20,000 innocent people have been killed as the war intensifies between the government of Mexico and drug lords. A few days ago, the body of Edelmiro Cavazos was found gagged and bond with a bullet in his hear several miles from his home town. He was mayor of Santiago and had openly spoken out against drug lords. A few days ago, a group of men dressed as members of the police came to his house, dragged him away, shot him and left his body in an open field. Six Mexican police have been arrested for participating in this kidnap-murder. They were paid off by drug lords. Mexico is confronted by the horror of drug lords using their vast money to bribe one and all in government in order to avoid arrest or to kill their enemies. Most probably, if current laws remain in America concerning drug use, another 20,000 or 40,000 Mexicans will die for the crimes of America.

It is time to end our current drug laws which make it a criminal act to use drugs. Of course, if the doctor gives you a prescription for Prozac to make you feel happier, that is perfectly legal. The solution is clear– legalize drugs, provide low cost drugs on provision the individual enters a program of rehabilitation. Stripe drug lords of their money and innocent Mexicans will live.

Radical Republicans have run amok and this time their enemy is not Socialism nor a president who was born in a gorilla camp in Africa, but the Constitution of the United States of America. Republican senators intend to conduct hearings in an effort to over-turn the 14th Amendment to the Constitution which states anyone born in the USA is automatically a citizen. According to Senator Lindsay Graham, “birthright citizenship is a mistake. People come here to have babies. They come here to drop a child. It’s called drop and leave. To have a child in America, they cross the border, they go to the emergency room, have a child and that child is automatically an American citizen.” Republican Senator John Kyle argues “if both parents are here illegally, should there be a reward for their illegal behavior?”

As a child of immigrants who came from southern and eastern Europe during the period, 1890-1920, I am aware a high percent came to this country in order that their children have the benefits of being an American. Of course, neither Graham nor Kyle recognize immigrants have been going back and forth across the border to Canada for over 200 years, and, as far as I know, there were no border patrols to check if they were legal immigrants. Children of illegal immigrants have served in the armed forces, they are Americans. The sad aspect of current Republican sponsored hysteria is realization they will trample children in their quest for votes.

Oh, how come Republicans never introduced any legislation concerning illegal immigrants when they had control of Congress and the president was a Republican?

Election year is once again upon the American people and politicians are seeking to prove they are more than just a 100% true blooded American, but one who will defend the rights of people in her state. Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona pushed through a law which allows police to halt “suspicious” looking individuals and demand proof they are a legal resident of the state and nation. Federal Judge Susan Bolton pointed out what any one in the legal profession knows, states do not have the right to pass laws dealing with foreign policy. They do not have the right to pass laws that violate federal legislation. In the 1830s, President Andrew Jackson made clear to the people of South Carolina that they would obey the law, and if they threatened to secede he would dispatch the American army and lock the whole damn group up in jail! Of course, Governor Brewer’s friends in 1860 decided they did not agree with the American people who elected Abraham Lincoln as their president and so several Southern states decided to secede and we had the Civil War.

It would be wonderful if Governor Brewer acted as a loyal American and cease playing election year politics. It would even be more welcome if Senator John McCain, who in the past has urged legalizing illegal immigrants, would display the bravery he showed while a prisoner and stand up for justice. Unfortunately, when it comes to displaying political courage, John McCain has the backbone of a chocolate eclair.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio, famous policeman from Maricopa county in Arizona, is getting his outdoor prison ready to receive hundreds of illegal Mexican immigrants as the new law kicks in allowing suspicious illegals to be arrested. According to Sheriff Joe, “if there’s a new law out, we’re going to enforce it.” The law allows police to arrest those in the state who are not legal citizens. Arizona guidelines to police are to arrest anyone who looks suspicious, displays signs of being nervous and is in an overcrowded car. We warn moms who are taking neighborhood kids to the baseball field to be on alert for police who undoubtedly will halt your car. Tell kids in the car not to act nervous. Human rights activist Liz Hourican will be marching with her compatriots in order to block the driveway to immigration offices. Her slogan is: “don’t buy, don’t comply.”

A federal judge is expected to rule as to the constitutionality of a state passing laws pertaining to foreign policy issues. Of course, if we pursue Arizona criteria, there are many visitors to America who might wind up in jail rather than at Disney world.

The young men and women crowded the dance floor shouting expressions of joy and singing along with the music. Suddenly, the door burst open and four men entered the room. Within a few moments they had sprayed over hundred bullets into the crowd leaving 17 people dead and dozens wounded. It remains a mystery why this crowd of youngsters who were dancing in a hotel in the city of Torreon in Mexico were the subject of the deadly assault. As detectives picked through the mess they found bullet casings which came from an AR-15 assault rifle. But, further investigation revealed the rifles came from guards at a prison in the neighboring state of Durango. Detectives concluded that prison guards had been releasing groups of inmates, lending them weapons, and sending them off in official vehicles so they could carry out drug related killings. Four prison officials, including the director, Margarita Rojas and her security chief and now under arrest. This is a fascinating discovery since it raises questions if criminals are now seeking to get into prison in order to secure work as killers.

What next is the real question? We argue the next step is for the United States of America to legalize drugs and place sale of drugs under the control of special government stores. Let’s end opportunities for drug lords to make money. Let’s legalize drugs and shut down these criminal gangs just as ending Prohibition ended the lucrative liquor crime lords.

A long, long time ago in America, people used various forms of drugs, and, for some strange reason the republic did not collapse and life proceeded along with normal rates of deaths by criminals. However, at the turn of the 20th century, the American government and people decided that certain forms of drugs were “evil” and had them banned. The result has been an enormous growth in gangs, gang wars, death and destabilization of communities throughout Latin America. Police discovered a huge mass grave containing at least 51 dead bodies which had been laid to rest in a trash dump outside the city of Monterrey. Investigators discovered most of the bodies had tattoos from a multitude of gangs and the 48 men and 3 women undoubtedly were killed as a result of gang wars. Since the Mexican government initiated a campaign against drug lords in 2006, an estimated 25,000 Mexicans have been killed. The police and army are fighting drug cartels, drug lords are fighting drug lords, and thousands of innocent Mexicans are trapped in this cross fire of hate, greed, and destruction.

Military force is one option in dealing with drug lords. However, a more practical option would be to legalize drugs in America, grant the government a monopoly on sale of drugs, offer low cost drugs linked to rehabilitation programs and end the power of drug cartels in Latin America. The mass grave was not the result of gang violence, it stemmed from Americans who refuse to legalize all drugs and assist victims of drugs to learn ways of living without such assistance in their daily lives.

I am with units of the Immigration Invasion Force(IIF) which has been slowly, but surely pushing its way across the broad expanse of the United States in order to assume control of the economy, and, next step, the governments of such states as Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota. I was informed by General Diego Juarez the next goal of his forces is seizure of the important road crossing located in Fremont, Nebraska. Now, some will argue, who the hell cares about Fremont, Nebraska, but to the IIF once in control of Fremont and its meatpacking industry, local inhabitants will be so terrified as to surrender control over their local government. Sorry, we just received a report from Fremont where Hillary Clandon reports election results which ban the hiring of illegal immigrants or allowing them to rent property. According to General Juarez, “we are left with no other option than a frontal assault on Fremont, capture their City Hall, and destroy all records dealing with illegal immigrants. That is the only way to save our fellow immigrants.”

During the past few months I have been able to attend briefing sessions and military discussions with leaders of the IIF. They hope to capture Fremont, then move across into Kansas and onto Colorado where they will join up with the 3rd Division of the IIF which is active in the Rocky Mountains. I have been informed the invasion will not cease until it has reached California where General Juarez intends to hold a referendum which would abolish the state government and allow a takeover of government by anyone who has at least five billion dollars. General Juarez made clear he is financially supported by a coalition of Middle Eastern oil tycoons who seek to take over America, impose the Muslim religion and then institute Sharia law.

First they came for the illegal immigrants, then they came for the legal immigrants, then they came for –YOU!

During the past four years, at least 26,000 people have died in Mexico as a result of drug wars, but, there is scant enthusiasm among Americans concerned with “terrorist threats” to do anything about such slaughter of human life. Americans became aroused and furious over Saddam Hussein whose brutality never touched the United States–aside from the Gulf War. Yesterday, Mexican police noticed a suspicious group of men and in the ensuing gun battle they killed 15 gang members who supposedly are linked to American born capo, “La Barberie” — and we are not referring to a Barbie Doll. President Felipe Calderon was on TV emphasizing to the nation “our future is at stake” and the war against drugs must be successful. A few weeks ago in a mine near a tourist spot, police found 55 bodies, which indicates it was a dumping ground for those killed in fights between drug gangs.

Unfortunately, the President of Mexico has no control over drug wars. If the American people would learn the lessons of Prohibition and legalize drugs, drug wars in Latin America would die down, if not disappear. The solution lies in the hands of Americans, not Mexicans.

The death of nineteen men in Mexico will make the daily headlines for a day, people will gasp, and then go on with their lives. After all, the death of nineteen men in a drug rehabilitation center is of no more than passing interest in a country in which death related to drugs has become the norm, not the exception. A band of 30 mean burst into the Faith and Life Center, compelled men to lie face down and then proceeded to kill them on the ground they were “criminals.” We have no idea who the 30 gunmen were, did they represent the force of authority, were they members of a drug gang, or were they simply interested citizens who wanted to do something about drugs in their country? Who knows, who cares? The “WAR ON DRUGS” goes on and on, death goes on and on, and the end result is we become indifferent to death in the afternoon.

An initial step in winning the WAR ON DRUGS is making drugs legal and focusing on aiding individuals to secure medical and psychological assistance in dealing with drugs. Only then will everyone be safe from drugs.

A group of boys were playing on the banks of the Rio Grande River, just a few miles from El Paso when a Border Patrol agents came upon the scene. What next happened depends on who is telling the story. According to the official border patrol agency, the following occurred when an agent captured one of the boys. The agent had “subject detained on the ground, gave verbal commands to the remaining subjects to stop and retreat. However, the subjects surrounded the agent and continued to throw rocks at him. The agent then fired his service weapon several times, striking one subject who later died.” However, there is a video of the scene which offers a slightly different version of events. A video shows three people running from the Border Patrol agents. One is caught and the agent is holding him down with one hand while the other is raised and has a revolver. A voice said, “he hit him, the idiot him him.” Another voice says, “It’s because they are throwing stones.”

Those are the versions. I am an inhabitant of planet Earth. On planet Earth there are creatures known as humans, but apparently on planet Border Patrol there are creatures known as “Subjects.” On my planet we do not kill humans, but on planet Border Patrol, they kill Subjects. We leave it to those reading whether or not a Subject should have been killed.

In Spanish, the name is, Catolicas por el Derecho a Decidr, a group of Mexican Catholics who believe women in their nation have the right to decide whether or not to have children. They have adopted an unusual position by insisting that abortion is in accordance with the doctrine of the Catholic Church. According to a spokeswoman for the group, “the Catholic Church is influencing legislation to punish abortion without taking in account the exceptions to the punishment of excommunication that Canon 1323 dictates.” Canon 1323 says women under 16 who have an abortion will not be excommunicated if they acted due to physical force nor will they face punishment if they were “coerced by grave fear” of if they “lack the use of reason.”

At the heart of their views is a belief “the church needs to recognize there are different visions and that the faithful have other visions.” There is no question abortion rights have not impacted Mexico in the same manner as it has in European Catholic nations or in the United States. Perhaps, the world has reached a point where alternative visions might contain a future vision.

Over a thousand members of the National Guard will be deployed to guard the borders of America against an influx of those illegal immigrants from Mexico. President Obama has decided, once again, to try out Bush ideas in order to solve problems. He has retained Bush anti-terrorism laws and now will copy his predecessor who once sent a few thousand National Guardsmen to the border with about 1,200 being deployed. Governor Perry of Texas, who has already threatened to secede from the United States if they continue passing SOCIALIST ideas like health insurance, is pleased, but wants even more troops on the border. Ironically, a recent CNN poll indicates that 88% of Americans are ready to grant citizenship to illegal immigrants who have been in America for years, have paid taxes and are working. Perry wants “boots on the ground, ” great, but exactly how many boots on the ground is needed in order to prevent immigrants from getting across the border? The United States has 145,000 boots on the ground in Iraq and over a 100,000 in Afghanistan without witnessing great improvements in preventing Taliban insurgents from going where they damn well please.

One solution to the illegal immigrants would be to take the 240,000 troops on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan and send them to guard the border with Mexico. At least no one will be shooting at the Americans– or at least, we hope they will not. On the other hand, how about re-instituting the draft and get about 2,000.000 boots on the ground at our borders. Of course, a simple suggestion would be to invite a million immigrants from Mexico to enter America, join our armed forces and go to the border and prevent their brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles from coming across the border.
