School Death, Spanish Style

There was a death in a school when a high school student, armed with a cross bow entered the school and shot a teacher with an arrow. Students huddled in their classrooms and tried to shut the door, but the boy was able to get into a few rooms and wound four of his classmates. He was finally subdued. Notice the difference between a boy armed with a crossbow and a boy armed with a rapid firing weapon which can send dozens of bullets all over the school in a few seconds. In Spain, we talk about A death, not the death of a dozen. Friends say the boy had been talking for days about his desire to murder teachers but no one paid any attention. After all, this is 2015 and students watch films in which young boys blast away with guns and murder a few dozen. We now accept as “normal,” the idea that a student openly discusses a desire to murder his teachers of fellow students.

The difference in Spain is that obtaining weapons of mass destruction is difficult. Heck, here in America it is now LEGAL to bring a gun to a college classroom in Texas. Heck, the student can carry a concealed gun and it is legal. Something has gone crazy in America since now over 50% of our people support the idea of people being able to walk around with weapons that can fire dozens of bullets. The only solution is to move to Spain and just confront the terror of a crossbow.

Oh, no report of Muslims in the area

Oh Them Beggars In Madrid

I spent my early life in the city of New York where just about every subway ride some man wandered through the car seeking a few coins. Or, on subway platforms men and women offered their musical talents to lighten life underground or for those headed home after a tough day hauling boxes for a living. In Madrid there is a new directive to all employees. They are to be on guard against potential violence. NO, the enemy is not a Muslim terrorist but beggars, musicians and gay folk. This is rather interesting. If I work on the Madrid underground, I must constantly be on guard in case somehow I encounter a gay person. Here is my confusion:

1. If someone laughs at a joke does this mean they are then in the state of being a gay person?

2. Exactly which personal characteristic allow me to decide if someone is a gay personal, of the sexual persuasion?

3. It would assist if the authorities had pictures of these gay folk.

In other words, if you find yourself on the Madrid underground, display a somber face and do not laugh!

Strangers In Their Own Land

As I recall, a long, long time ago, thousands of people from European nations such as Spain or Portugal or England decided to depart from Europe and head west toward some new lands. Of course, several thousand years before their arrival, a few thousand folks from Asia decided to head east and cross over into the new world that is now known as the Western Hemisphere. As I recall, there were no border patrols to halt them, to question their financial ability to reside in this hemisphere, and certainly no shouting and screaming Indians protesting the arrival of these strangers in THEIR LAND! Thousands of children and their families are fleeing from the horror that is Central America in which gangs of creatures beat, rape and kill for the joy of beating, raping and killing. Children are trapped in a horror that usually is presented in fictional movies. Their reality is not even being able to attend school without the fear of death of brutalization. So, they head north, hoping by some miracle they can be allowed to reside in some location that provides a modicum of peace and security, and, hopefully, work.

These are the people who pick our peaches, work in our meat plants, build our roads, pick up the garbage of our lives as well as caring for the children in our lives needed home care. These are simply decent hard working people who only desire to work, to work with their hands, to build, to construct, and to feel meaning as individuals. All they want is a chance. Protesters in south Texas are blocking highways because the Border Patrol is sending most of these people to facilities in San Diego. There is only ONE family detention center in this county! So, shout insults, demand your right to hate. Just check the 2nd Amendment, it says I can shoot anyone who I regards as a threat to my life.

Instead of blocking roads, how about offering your services as peach pickers?

World Wide Immigration Is Issue

Lost in the great American debate about illegal or legal immigrants is the broader issue of–Migration. At this very moment there are about 200 million people who have left their homes and sought a better life elsewhere in another nation. The immigrants come from Africa, they come from Latin America, they come from Asian nations, and their destinations are those societies which offer physical labor that citizens no longer which to do, and, they certainly do not want their children using hands to make money. Yesterday, over 500 Africans stormed into the Spanish enclave in North Africa in order to obtain work permits for a European nation. Once an African sets foot in a “European territory” that individual has rights to seek work. Here is the reality:

1. Birth rates are declining in all advanced economic societies.
2. Dirty wok jobs are not desired by native born people.
3. As of this moment, dirty work must be done by a human and since native born refuse to engage in physical work, then immigrants are the only alternative.
4. It is time for a world wide system of migration that directs those from poverty areas to nations that are short of people for physical labor tasks.
5. It is time for the UN to establish such a system.

Oh, fifty or a hundred years from now the robots will handle these tasks, until that day, the world needs immigrants.

Tweet, Tweet Go The Cops

I begin with a confession to never having sent out tweets to the world. I do not possess an iPad and I do not fiddle with my fingers while having a cup of coffee. I am among the Neanderthals of the past who resort to pen and paper and so love to chat with a person rather than engage in talks with machines. The Interior Ministry in Spain was planning a raid on Basque “terrorists” and decided to make certain everyone in Spain knew they were fighting the bad guys so they sent out a tweet which explained the raid and the object of the raid. After all, if one is making a surprise raid on the “bad guys’ it is only kosher to let them know. After dispatch of the tweet one of the bright guys in the Interior Ministry decided this was not the best idea in the world and deleted the tweet.

I do not know if this is good or bad news but the “bad guys” apparently were not gazing at tweets and were captured. This great sweep caught in its net eight “bad guys.” Two of them were lawyers for Basque separatist groups who apparently discussed with those not in jail what they were discussing with those in jail. Yes, there are terrorist Basques who have resorted to violence and murder. They have killed 829 people in 40 years. That comes out to about twenty a year. Heck, they readily achieve that figure in America during a month due to our “Terrorist” gun attitudes.

China Supports Human Rights!

The Chinese government is upset. For some strange reason a court in Spain issued a warrant charging former Chinese President Jiang Zemin with participating in acts of genocide against the people of Tibet. Spain’s National Court issued the warrant under the doctrine of universal jurisdiction which allows courts to try human rights abuses committed in other countries. Beijing wants an explanation from the Spanish government as to how they claim the right to place on trial a Chinese citizen. From their perspective, the Chinese government has gone out of their way to provide education and knowledge to the people of Tibet. Heck, they even built a wonderful train which can send people from China to all parts of Tibet. A wonderful tourist vehicle that provides jobs.

How can China be guilty of “genocide, crimes against humanity, torture and terrorism” against the people of Tibet? The only reason Chinese soldiers are in Tibet is to protect its inhaitants against gangsters and criminals. If you don’t believe me, just ask Chinese soldiers in Tibet.

Spying Together

There is an old adage that nations that spy together live more peacefully together. New reports from Spanish newspapers indicate the American National Security Agency collaborated with Spanish spy agencies in order to ensure the daily lives of orindary Spanish citizens was known to one and all around the world-of the good guys, that is. The modern name of the game is to make certain what is said or thought in Spain is shared with American spy agencies. One can only assume there are secret, secret activities in Spain that will effect the outcome of fighting in Pakistan and Afghanistan. According to El Mundo, everyone is cooperating in the spy game. You spy on us, we spy on you.

Why not establish a central Spy Command in which spies from all over the world can become certified in spying and thus we can cease worrying about spies?

P.S. Where can I get a SPY BADGE?

Are You Really Listening To Me?

During the past twenty four hours President Obama has claimed to lack knowledge of any problems facing launching of the Affordable Care Act, of spying on leaders of Germany and France and other assorted world leaders. The Spanish government has decided to get into the “why the hell are you Americans spying on the good guys” party. This followed a story in El Mundo which claimed the NSÅ was listening into phone calls of about 60.5 million Spanish people. Once again another European country told American ambassadors there was supposedly something about “trust” between nations. Naturally, American diplomats made clear these interventions into the lives of Spanish people was necessary to prevent them from serious harm from foreigners. Remember, under Barack Obama the magic words are NATIONAL SECURITY. Say those words and you can do whatever you desire.

One increasingly gets the image of a president playing with his children and occasionally being interrupted in order to pay attention to something about the government.

Forgotten European Youth

Among the tragedies of Europe’s dance with austerity has been a dramatic rise in unemployment throughout the region. An estimated 50% of young Spaniards lack jobs and similar figures are evident in Greece or Italy or even Sweden. Hundreds of Swedish young boys and girls went on a rampage through the streets of Stockholm showing their anger at being ignored and having their lives put on hold. They set fire to over 300 cars, burned down a restaurant and threw stones through store windows. There are even reports of a police station being burned to the ground. The initial outbreak most probably arose from police killing a 69 year -old man who was wielding a machete. Young people felt the police over-reacted.

It is time for Europe to abandon the austerity tactic and go back to some old fashioned John Keynes stimulus to the economy. Sweden might borrow the Depression CCC which placed one million young Americans to work on infrastructure tasks. FDR even pushed through bills that paid artists to paint or musicians to play music of people to put on plays. Provide meaningful work and riots will cease and desist.

Future For Youth?

Four years ago in most European nations young people were hopeful that with further education there would be ample opportunities to secure a good job.Today, the unemployment rate in Spain or Greece is over 50% for young people with scant prospect of changes during the coming decade of their life. Stylia Kampani, now works as an unpaid intern for an important Athens newspaper. What happens after the end of her internship is unknown. “None of my friends believes that we have a futureor will live a normal life. That wasn’t quite the case four years ago.” She is now part of a lost generation which is doomed to low wages, uncertan job security and loss of control over individual lives. European nations have not learned the lesson of America’s Depression when the federal government created jobs for youth like the CCC. It funded the theater, opera, symphony orchestras and provided many job opportunities in society.

Germany recruits some  skilled workers from Greece or Spain. In the UK anger is directed at immigrants because the government has done nothing to offer youth a chance for the future. Oh, it has tripled the cost of college. Youth needs to go beyond protest and organize political parties which pledge to create jobs, and, in so doing create hope. If governments refuse to act to create jobs, the end result will be emergence of neo-fascist political parties based on hate an violence.
