Hands Off Says Chinese HS Principal

Students at the Yizhou No 1 High School in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were warned by the principal “Any physical contact between boys and girls at school is forbidden, including hand-holding, handshakes, hugging, patting, carrying people on the back and kissing. Boys and girls should only talk together in well-lit places such as the classroom or hallway.” Any one caught in such sexually provocative situations will have his or her parents ordered to school to receive a lecture. The offender will then be sent home “to meditate for three to seven days.” When the rules were announced at a school assembly the students roared their disapproval. It appears there were three serious love affairs in a school of 2,000 students, and grades of the lovers went down.

One doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry at this silliness. Three “love affairs” in a school of 2,000 adolescents! Wow, any American high school principal would drool with approval at that figure.
