The Family Planning Association of Tanzania reported that many teenage females are taking a compound of Sodium Bicarbonate mixed with cold water as a method of preventing pregnancy. The dose is termed “Magad” and is believed to halt pregnancy. It appears the girls are more concerned about becoming pregnant than about getting AIDS.
I hate to blame George Bush for so many things but his administration has cut off funds to Africa that would help provide anti-pregnancy information and materials on grounds that all children have to know is to just say “no.” Saying “no” doesn’t work in America and it certainly doesn’t work elsewhere.
