In an interesting letter which appeared in the May 10th issue of Stars& Stripes, an officer explains his support for gay soldiers.
“I am the proud brother of a gay man. If he had decided to join the military he would have been an intelligent successful leader who promoted harmony and teamwork. In my experience, those who speak out against homosexuals have never had personal interactions with gays. We all, however, know gay people, but their fear and non-acceptance makes them hide their identities. I submit that the military has too many important issues right now to continue worrying about a problem most of the U.S. public has worked hard to overcome. But, believe me, the Army would be a better institution with my brother in uniform.”
