Bush Rule Hinders Legal Help For Veterans

The Bush administration has imposed a new rule which requires any lawyer who volunteers to do pro bono work for veterans to first pass a test before such assistance can be provided. According to Ron Abrams of the National Veterans Legal Services Program: “It makes no sense to make it harder for veterans to get a free lawyer.”

I assume Bush would like high price lawyers to dash to a VA installation in order to take a written test to prove they are OK. Bush has incredible faith in what a written test can tell concerning an individual’s knowledge. I guess we should call this rule: “No Lawyer Left Behind.”
