Turkish public opinion will become very upset if the United States Congress passes a resolution condemning Turkey for the genocide of Armenians early in the 20th century. They are also concerned about activities of the Kurdish Workers Party(PKK) which is receiving aid from Kurdistan. But, when Dr. Ian O. Lesser of Transatlantic Trends asked people what most concerned them, they replied, “they are rather pessimistic. Why? It is all about Iraq. It is all about Bush.”
America must confront the reality that people in the Middle East have been completely upset by events in Iraq and the aftermath of Iraq may well last for years. The final consequences of the Bush legacy may not be known for a decade.
