Bush Dodges Tillman Request

The White House has announced it will not provide documents related to the death of former NFL football star Pat Tillman because the correspondence may “implicate Executive Branch confidentiality interests.” Nor will there be any release of communications between the Republican National Committee and Pentagon and White House sources.

President Bush and the Republican party used the death of Pat Tillman to loudly proclaim their own patriotism and wrap themselves in his death shroud. In so doing, they dishonored his memory and caused considerable anguish to his family. Of course, they don’t want to let the public know what is in the correspondence since to do so would finally let the world know how Bush once again used the death of soldiers to enhance his political standing.
