Gen.Ray Odiemo, deputy to Genereal Petraeus says they are having a rousing success around Baghdad and security is improving. But, he doubts the army can provide Congress or the President a good assessment at this point or even in September. “I need at least until November to do that.”
My question is: Suppose November comes and things are still not in good shape, what then, do we wait until January? A major problem in the Iraq war is that generals are not in the front lines fighting with their men. They spend too much time engaged in public relations. Wake up, General Odiemo, every time you clear an area, the enemy simply retreats to another area and when you leave they will return.
