She Won’t Wear A Yellow Ribbon

The town of south Portland has finally resolved a problem that divided the town– should yellow ribbons be displayed on utility poles and lamp posts? The yellow ribbons initially were placed around the town in honor of a local soldier who died in the fighting, but as the war in Iraq led many people to doubt the validity of the war, feeling arose that the yellow ribbons indicated support for Bush war policies. The community has finally decided to remove the yellow ribbons and build some type of permanent memorial to those who died fighting for their nation.
