Somalia Becomes More Dangerous

A ship containing U.N. humanitarian aid for Somalia refused to leave the harbor due to rampant piracy off the coast of Somalia. Even the United States navy has admitted its inability to patrol the waters off the coast of Somalia and prevent pirates from seizing control of ships. A U.S. Navy Maritime Liaison Office representative admitted, “Although there are coalition forces operating in the area, they cannot be everywhere monitoring every ship that passes the coast of Somalia.”

Bandits target passenger and cargo ships for ransom and use the money to purchase weapons. The United States pushed Ethiopia into launching an attack against an Islamic government, and after they were defeated, chaos began to reign. We are living with the aftermath of the American initiated violence.
