The Lithuanian government has decided to funnel all compensation payments for persecution and killing of Lithuanian Jews through the Lithuanian Jewish Community and the Lithuanian Jewish Heritage Foundation. This has sparked protests by Jewish groups elsewhere in the world who want money paid to other groups.
This debate is an example of the Holocaust ploy which is used by individuals or groups to gain money or notoriety. Two respected Jewish groups in Lithuania have been identified to handle compensation money. There is no need to get into a debate about who should handle money. I assume individuals will receive compensation and there will be money set aside to the two groups since recipients did not leave relatives. I assume the money will be used in projects related to the Holocaust. It is unseemly to get into debates about money.
