Noted scientist Stephen Hawking once again told the world that God in his infinite wisdom did not create the Universe. The blame for wars, pestilence, hate and violence can not be placed on any Supreme Being but must be accepted as part of the laws of physics. If one wants to blame someone or something for a world in which billions live in poverty, in which women are brutalized in the name of God or in which hate is more commonly accepted than expressions of love and peace. Personally, I have no problem with the absence of a personal Creator, in fact, I believe the best way to express one’s love of God is to take away any blame on His part for the creation of this nutty planet which enjoys murder as a normal activity. Of course, one could always pose to the good scientist the ever ready question of what created the conditions which allowed laws of physics to evolve?
I certainly was happy to learn that God did not create this planet or universe. However, if God did not do the creating does this mean my beloved New York Knick basketball team which has not won an NBA championship in over thirty years is bound by the law of physics to win–eventually, I assume!
