Berlin has opened the first playground designed for senior citizens. The idea is to help them keep fit and have social interactions with people. Germany is an aging society, and with a sharp decline in the generation of children it is felt there is need for new ideas regarding playgrounds. The equipment is designed for people who are at least five feet tall and to help senior citizens get physically active. There are such things as flexibility machines which foster pulling and stretching and leg training activities. The entire playground only cost about $37,000. Now, if they can keep the children out, it might be beneficial for senior citizens.
