Mitt Romney had made clear that his goal as president of the United States of America is to protect the rights of 52% of the population. His comments to wealthy donors was honest. “All right, there are 47% who are with him; they are dependent on the government, who believe they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them; who believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, you name it. And so my job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility for their lives”
I am one of those people dependent on “the government.” I joined the army during the Korean War, I know Mitt headed for France during the Vietnam war. Many of my comrades who got wounded returned needing health care. I have taught 12,000 students, some went on to good jobs, some went on to lower paying jobs and never accumulated a great deal of money. We did not have a dad who had millions, we were not fortunate like Mitt to work our way up from one million to hundreds of millions. We did our jobs, we made this nation great while Mitt was making his personal fortune ever greater.
A great president has a responsibility for all Americans. Can any Republican imagine Abraham Lincoln making such comments??
