The European-Mediterranean Youth Parliament met from May 28-June 3 as part of a process of stimulating youth interactions across cultural boundaries. It was an opportunity for young people from European and Mediterranean nations to meet, discuss, and come up with ideas. For example, the Parliament suggested creation of a Euro-Mediterranean Bank that might fund NGOs involved with projects that foster peace or economic development for young people.
It might be interesting to create a Western Hemisphere Youth Parliament which could bring together young people from nations in the hemisphere. Since Americans are barred from Cuba, this might stimulate dialogue even between children of Cuban exiles and Cuban youth. Both parties could use some discussion.
