The journey has been long for President Obama, but he finally has reached the end of the line in regard to Republican obstructing of plans that would confront fiscal issues. He again made clear there would be no deal on the budget unless it included raising taxes THREE PERCENT on those who earn over $250,000. Naturally, Republicans insist this additional money would not resolve higher deficits. Yes and No. It was the Bush tax cut, together with wars, which led to the fiscal crisis. Isn’t it fair that those who benefited from tax cuts–which raised our deficits–should assist in lowering the deficit?
Reality: A three percent increase in taxes will help produce about $1 Trillion during the coming decade. Of course, Republicans want to end Food Stamps. Will ending Food Stamps or reducing Student Loans end the fiscal crisis??
