President Bashar al-Assad undoubtedly feels content knowing there is always Russia hovering in the background to support any murderous expedition on his part. After his forces murdered and wounded over a hundred innocent civilians, the best Russian officials could describe the massacre as one in which BOTH sides were responsible. Sergei Lavrov told the world: “we are dealing with a situation in which both sides evidently had a hand in the deaths of innocent people.”
His logic in offering this explanation is that bodies had knife wounds which could only come from dissidents! Mr. Lavrov blamed the UN and opponents of Assad for seeking to “change the regime”rather than seek peace. What can one expect from a nation ruled by Putin? When all is said and done, Assad is a blood brother of Vladimir.
