Ten Years Of Nothing

Ten years  ago, American forces entered Afghanistan to drive out the ruling Taliban which had created a society centered in brutality and disregard for human rights. Most Afghans greeted the end of the Taliban, and hoped it was the beginning of a new era in their lives. Alas, that was ten years ago, today, the same Afghans have scant respect for Americans or NATO forces, and the Taliban has regained power in many areas of the nation.

Yesterday, in the capital of Kabul, Taliban insurgents opened fire on the US Embassy and NATO headquarters. Ten years after being driven from power, the Taliban can conduct military operations in the capital of Afghanistan! America failed to assist the people of Afghanistan. It is time to admit our failure and depart. Only the people of Afghanistan can determine their future.
