Avigdor Lieberman Attacks Netanyahu

Avigdor Lieberman, the most incompetent foreign minister in the world, blew up at his superior, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for holding secret meetings with the Turkish government in order to repair relations between Israel and its former ally. A factor in creating bad relations between the two nations was the ridiculous behavior of Lieberman’s assistant who last year invited the Turkish ambassador to a meeting, deliberately placed a low chair in the room, invited in Israeli TV and said in Hebrew how he was insulting the ambassador by seating him below his desk. Lieberman did not realize Turkey would only send an ambassador to his nation who was fluent in Hebrew. Now, the mouth that roars nonsense blasted his superior for undermining his authority. A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry released a statement about the secret meetings: “this is an insult to the norms of accepted behavior and a heavy blow to the confidence between the foreign minister and the prime minister.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu reportedly met with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in an attempt to repair relations. There is scant doubt Turkish political leaders have no respect for Lieberman. Hopefully, this explosion will result in departure of Lieberman from the Cabinet and a new alliance which includes Kadima which is committed to peace with Palestinians.

Israel’s Lost Opportunity With Turkey

Aluf Benn, writing in the Israel Haaretz, discussed his sadness concerning the collapse of close relations between Israel and Turkey. He expressed pain at remarks by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan who described Israel as “a nation of liars and murderers” and “Turkey is not an Iran that seeks to wipe Israel off the planet as (foreign minister) Avigdor Lieberaman believes.” For decades both nations had close working relations from the beginning of Israel when its initial prime minister, David Ben-Gurion spoke Turkish and his successor, Moshe Sharett not only spoke Turkish but served in the Ottoman army during World War I. During the 1990s, a close working relationship between Israel leader Yitzhak Rabin and the Turkish Prime Minister was evidence both nations shared common values and belief in a secular society. Israel has changed and today 45% of first graders in Israel schools attend a religious run institution while secularism in Turkey is under attack.

However, the government of Benjamin Netanyahu must assume responsibility for creating the current divide with Turkey. The very idea of appointing a crude ignorant thug like Avigdor Lieberman was an invitation to diplomatic disaster. Lieberman deliberately insulted the Turkish ambassador to his nation and Netanyahu has pursued policies of obstruction with Palestinian leaders. Such behavior meant it was simply a matter of time before an inept, stupid action such as the attack on the flotilla was bound to occur.

At this point in time, Israel leadership is more akin to the leaders of Iran than to democracy. The real question is when will the people of Israel begin acting like Jews?

What Israel Must Do –NOW!

Anger concerning the Israel assault on a flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian aid is pouring in from all parts of the world. In South Africa, Nobel Laureate Desmond Tutu said the attack was “inexcusable,” while UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon expressed his shock and in Sweden Foreign Minister Carl Bildt demanded answers from Israel’s ambassador to his nation. Each hour there are new reports as to the dead and wounded with latest estimates being at least 19 and dozens more wounded. The Israel government’s only response has been to blame the ships for demonstrating a “political provocation”–whatever that means. It is clear that Israel might soon experience a violent outburst from Palestinians and it could result in ending present hopes for peace with the Palestinian Authority. There is scant doubt religious fundamentalist fanatics in Israel welcome this outcome just as do their fellow fanatics in Iran.

The question confronting Israel is what must be done. We write as a co-founder of a Holocaust Museum and one who loves the Israeli people. But, this is what is needed –NOW!

1. Release of all people who are in custody and return them to their home nations.
2. Ask the United Nations to dispatch troops to man all entry points in Gaza and work with Israel forces to ensure that civilian aid enters without any further restrictions.
3. A formal apology must be expressed to Turkey and other nations from which people in the ships came as well as assurances the Israel government will cooperate in allowing a new flotilla to land humanitarian supplies.
4. Organize an internal investigation of those responsible for this violation of international law.
5. The Netanyahu government must resign and form a new coalition with Kadima and get rid of religious fanatics in the Cabinet.
6. Remove Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman immediately. This man is a thug and clown, not a diplomat.
7. Cease all further settlement construction until a peace agreement has been reached with the Palestinian Authority.

The bottom line is HONEST NEGOTIATIONS WITH PALESTINIANS MUST BE THE HIGHEST PRIORITY!!

Avigdor Lieberman–The Mouth That Roars!

Avigdor Lieberman is a child of his origin, life in the Soviet Union which compelled individuals to lie and distort in order to survive. Unfortunately, he brought that mind set to Israel and became determined never again to be the under-dog. It is preferable to be the one bossing around those who are powerless. In a recent interview, he once again blamed Palestinians for any problems in obtaining peace in the Middle East. “We took the unilateral step of deciding on a moratorium, a construction freeze in Judea and Samaria. We recognized two states for two peoples. I think we made countless gestures and what did we get in return? The glorification of terrorism.” If one accepts these remarks as constituting actions for peace, they, at first glance, appear to be conciliatory. But, on second glance, it is simply another twisting of words by the mouth that roars defiance to the world.

Israel in 1967 did offer peace to Palestinians and their offers were rejected. This led to the decision to consolidate seizure of the West Bank and transform it into a stronghold for Israelis. The UN partition plan of 1948 placed land that Lieberman claims is Israeli into the hands of Arabs. So, after stealing land, he is gracious enough not to continue stealing.

President Abbas and the Arab League have announced willingness to recognize the existence of Israel as part of a peace plan. This hardly sounds as those they are “glorifying violence.” As long as an ignorant bully like Avigdor Lieberman is foreign minister of Israel, there will not be peace.

Children’s Hour In Middle East!

Last month the deputy foreign minister in Israel decided to humiliate the Turkish ambassador so he arranged for that person to be seated in a lower chair and then refused to even offer him a cup of tea or coffee. This was to show the world that Israel does not treat decently those nations which insult their actions in the Middle East. Yesterday, as Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan was prepared to visit a city in his country someone created a huge poster which depicts Israel President Shimon Peres in the act of bowing to Erdogan. Naturally, the Turkish Prime Minister insisted the poster be removed.

A major problem in the Middle East is the presence in Israel of Avigdor Lieberman as the foreign minister of a major nation. This man leans toward childish activities and has absolutely no talent in the world of diplomacy except to endorse activities like having an ambassador sit in a lower seat. Isn’t it time Israel sent mature individuals as their diplomatic representatives?

Avigdor Lieberman Mouth Roars Nonsense To Turkey

The government of Israel which continually declaims and protests against inflammatory statements from Muslim nations contains a mouth that roars non-stop nonsense in the person of Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman. In a visit to Baku, he slammed Turkey for its “anti-Israel” stance. Lieberman complained the Turkish government virtually every week, sharply condemns Israel and makes outrageous statements that the “Israel military forces have carried out genocide.” He was referring to the Gaza invasion which resulted in the death of over a thousand innocent Gaza civilians.

During the past several decades Israeli and Turkish army units have conducted joint exercises and the Turkish government has been among the only Muslim leaders who work cooperatively with Israel. Reality is that Israel over-reacted in Gaza and the murder of over a thousand civilians was reprehensible. The Israel government had justification for being angry given rockets that continued hitting its nation, but to make a murderous assault in which civilians were destined to die was not the correct response. There were alternatives which would have avoided deterioration in relations with Turkey.

Step one to improve relations with Turkey is getting rid of Avigdor Lieberman, a foreign minister lacking any capacity to engage in diplomatic relations with any nation in the world. The fault lies not in the stars, but in the minds of Israel ministers who blundered.

Israel Foreign Minister Denounces Hate Speech!

There is something ironic on Holocaust Remembrance Day for Israel Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman to utter a speech in which he denounces hate speech as a terrible crime against humanity. “We must stop the spread of anti-semitism in this way,” he cried. Of course, Avigdor Lieberman uses every foul expression when discussing Muslims and Palestinians who oppose the ideas of the current Israel government. He has curses, insulted, and even demanded the expulsion of Muslims from Israel, but, to this petty little twerp, Muslims are not human in his eyes. Avigdor Lieberman is living proof that people can endure horrible crimes and come away reading to inflict horrible crimes on others.

Every time Avigdor Lieberman opens his mouth and expresses his hatred of Palestinians and Muslims he insults the memory of every Jew who died in the Holocaust.

Children’s Hour In Israel- How To Lose Friends!

During the past twenty years, Israel always had a friend in Turkey and both armed forces even conducted joint military operations, but the current government of Benjamin Netanyahu has done everything in its power to isolate Israel from the world. The assumption of the Netanyahu government is the hell with the world, no one is going to tell Israel what to do. A recent Turkish television program depicted Israel security forces kidnapping children and shooting elderly men. Israel Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman met with the Deputy Minister, Danny Ayalon and these two supposedly mature men decided it was best to act childish in order to sent a message to Turkey letting them know children were now in charge of the government. Ambassador Ahmet Celikkol was asked to a meeting where he was given a low chair, his hand was not shaken and no refreshments were served. Only the Israel flag was on the table.

To make matters worse, the media was invited to watch the children in action and Mr. Ayalon said to them: “the important thing is that people see that he’s low and we’re high and that there is only one flag here.’!”

The real question is whether the people of Israel wish their nation to become the laughing stock of the world. When will Israelis wake up to the reality they are being led by escapees from a kindergarten. Five thousand years of history for Jews and this is the end result. This is definite proof there is no evolution.

Avigdor Lieberman–The Mouth That Roars Nonsense

Avigdor Lieberman is a man of violent opinions who believes his nation is always right and the world outside is always wrong. He is not the brightest or well educated person to hold the position of foreign minister in Israel, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu needed some votes in the Knesset and along came Avigdor. The latest out burst by the mouth that speaks nonsense was directed at members of the Israel foreign ministry. At a meeting of about 150 envoys, Avigdor exploded. He was furious that diplomats endeavored to behave in a diplomatic fashion while in another country. “I have seen some ambassadors identify themselves with the other side to such an extent that they are all the time trying to justify and explain.” The foreign minister told the group, “the era of goveling is over” and Israel will no longer “tolerate insults.”

The essence of diplomacy is being able to understand the mind set and thinking of your opponent. Shouting at another country may play well to local demagogues, but it does not resolve issues between nations. Perhaps, the first step in working for peace in the Middle East is for Prime Minister Netanyahu to get a new foreign minister.

Can I Oppose Israel Policies Without Being Anti-Jewish?

Israel Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman told a conference there was a world wide campaign to foster anti-Israel policies in hope of crushing the state of Israel. Lieberman argues, “classic anti-semitism, along with Iranian funding and Islamic anti-Semitism, is being used to inculcate hatred against Jews, and to delegitimize the state of Israel.” Several speakers at the conference stressed that it no longer was politically correct to attack Jews so anti-Semites have shifted their hatred toward the state of Israel. As Lieberman put it, “Modern anti-Semitism has taken the form of being anti-Israel, not to hate Jews.”

Inherent in these arguments is that opposing the state of Israel is equivalent to hating Jews. A central problem with this argument is the inability to distinguish between “opposing policies of the Israel government” rather than “opposing the existence of the state of Israel.” I am allowed to oppose policies of Ireland without being accused of being anti-Irish or anti-Catholic, and a similar standard should apply when discussing foreign policy and domestic initiatives of the Israel government. Hopefully, many in the world understand that not all Americans supported Bush policies.
