German Banker Blasts Immigrants

A German banker has created an uproar over his controversial remarks which many deem to be anti-Muslim as well as anti-immigrant. Thilo Sarrazin has been reprimanded by the Bundesbank for making disparaging remarks concerning Turkish and Arab immigrants to Germany. According to Sarrazin, ” a very large number of Arabs and Turks in this city, who have increased in number as a result of wrong policies, have no productive function other than the fruit and vegetable trade.” He also charged they were incapable of integrating themselves into German society and “constantly produce little girls in headscarves.” Bundesbank officials are urging that Sarrazin be fired from his bank position.

Unfortunately, the comments by Sarrazin are merely what are believed by millions of Germans and firing him might be welcomed, but it also may transform the bank official into a martyr in the cause of freedom of speech. Fortunately, just about every major political party and leader has condemned the bank leader.

I suspect that firing Sarrazin must occur as well as the reality he will soon be on talk shows declaiming his right to insult people and his book will undoubtedly rise on the best seller list. These days, the more outrageous the comment, the more money one makes.
