Getting Out Is Harder Than Getting In!

Six long years ago, American troops zoomed into Iraq in a lightening strike which swept aside Iraqi troops and overthrew the Saddam Hussein regime. After six years, it apparently is time to depart, but leaving creates as many problems as entering. The Government Accountability Office, (GAO) warned the Defense Department “lacks a centralized repository of the specific services available on the various services” that must be brought out of Iraq. Among the issues identified by the GAO are:

Contract services have not been identified.
Key decisions about the disposition of equipment have not yet been made.

The issue of how to move out over 100,000 troops, thousands of service contract personnel and equipment have yet to be fully worked out. How about asking “General Rumsfeld” to lend a helping hand?
