Say, Jesus,About That Crucifixion….

There are billions of people who believe Jesus Christ was nailed to a cross by the Romans and killed and there are millions of people who believe Jewish priests colluded in this death. According to the Gospels, this man of peace was forced to carry a cross, taken to a spot, and then nailed to the cross and left to die. Gunnar Samuellsson of Gothenburg University, did an extensive research of ancient literature in order to uncover evidence the Romans employed this form of punishment, but was unable to find any other descriptions of such an event except for the one offered in the Gospels. Based on his research, descriptions of such forms of death are simply not found in antique literature.

What does his research mean to those who are Christians as well to those who are not Christians. The issue has never been how Jesus Christ died, the issue has always been teachings of this man of peace. The issue has never been who was responsible for his death, the issue has always been can those who believe in his ideas fulfill his dreams of peace and goodwill among men. All too frequently, those in the Christian religion have posed the wrong questions about Jesus Christ. If one truly believes He died for their sins, then it is imperative to behave according to his beliefs in peace and human justice and not worry about taxes. How can anyone who believes in the ideas of Jesus Christ get upset because the poor are being fed with government money?

Abortion But Not Nipples At Super Bowl?

One can only wonder why CBS is allowing an anti-abortion ad to be shown during the Super Bowl given its concern a few years ago when Janet Jackson showed a nipple on TV. Perhaps, CBS executives decided the audience for showing scenes of aborted babies is much more uplifting than showing an uplifted breast. I have no problem with any ad being shown during the Super Bowl since most football fans are so engrossed in the game we pay scant attention to ads unless they are humorous. Focus on the Family is allowing Tim Tebow, an outstanding college quarterback to speak for those who are against abortion. Mr. Tebow insists he loves football because it has enabled him to spread “God’s work.”

For years I have been wondering where the expression “throwing a Hail Mary” comes from and now I know. Christian quarterbacks have been throwing Hail Marys in an effort to spread the word of God.

By the way, it is now clear to me that Jesus was a quarterback, how else could he spread the word of Mary?

Do Churches Have Legal Right To Be UnChristian?

The British government is proposing an Equality bill whose provisions are somewhat unclear pertaining to the rights of gays and transsexuals when it comes to issues of church organizations. Government officials insist it does not disturb the status quo which allows church groups to discriminate when it comes to issues of gays and transsexuals on grounds it violates their right to practice religion. The Archbishop of Canterbury argues “if religious freedom means anything it must mean that those(gay rights) are matters for the churches and other religious organizations to determine for themselves.”

The Archbishop does have a point. If freedom means anything it means the right to be a bigot. The real question for Christian groups is being discriminatory against gays and transsexuals in accordance with the religion that was founded by Jesus Christ. I thought he came for all people. I don’t recall reading any caveats that he did not come for gays and transsexuals.

But, then again, I am Jew and Jesus was born, raised and died a Jew.

Jesus Removed From Rifle Scopes!

Rush Limbaugh, and his buddies, Glenn Beck or Bill O’Reilly, must be furious at the news mamby pamby liberals and do-gooders have exerted pressure on the Pentagon to have Biblical references etched on rifle scopes to be removed. First, they take Christ out of Xmas, and now they take Jesus out of killing people! Trijicon, the company which has been furnishing Jesus these pas twenty years to our fighting men and women, has backed down and will remove the material. No longer will those engaged in killing be comforted by Biblical expressions such as , “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” For some reason, the Pentagon would rather allow them Muslim people to scare we God-fearing Americans and take away our Jesus the general.

Trijicon was simply trying to be a good Christian company and “as part of our faith and belief in service to our country,” enlisting a gun toting Christ in the service of humankind. Oh well, liberals would rather have some peacenik Jesus instead of a gun-toting one. I guess the next thing we will witness is a drive by terrorist loving liberals to take away a kindergarten kid’s right to bring his rifle to class?

See what happens when you elect a Barack Obama to office!

US Army Enlists Jesus To Fight Muslim Terrorists!

Combat rifles being used by American forces fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan carry Bible references on the rifle as they raise it to kill the enemy. The contractor, Tijicon, admits they have placed these references from the Bible on equipment they sell to the military. The inscriptions appear in raised lettering at the end of the stock number. The Trijicon Reflex sight is stamped with 2CORA4-6: a reference to Paul: “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

Mikey Weinstein, president of MIlitary Religious Freedom, wondered how the American public would react if soldiers fired weapons containing verses from the Koran. A spokesman for the Pentagon responded by asking if we would cease using money because it contains the statement, “In God We Trust.” Of course, God belongs to all religions unlike Christ who belongs to Christianity.

My concern is why no one has checked with Jesus if the military could use his words of peace in the pursuit of killing.

Would American Idol Have Taken Jesus Christ?

American Idol, along with other reality TV shows, insists that its contestants are just regular people who possess some special talents. On reality shows, being able to sing, or tell jokes, or know who was the third American president is an indication that you are someone blessed with special gifts. I have been wondering how a contestant named Jesus Christ would fare on the reality TV circuit. From what we know, he was not blessed with a gift of singing, he didn’t tell too many joke, but he certainly had a way with words. This past weekend in a church on the estate of the Queen of England, the Rev. Graham James teased royalty by noting their lack of knowledge of the ITV reality show does not reflect on their being stupid.

However, Rev. James thought the At. John the Baptist might have been a good contestant since he lived on wild honey and ate locusts. OK, so he ate locusts, big deal, but could he sing?

How about a Reality TV show designed for anyone who is into religion who could preach a good sermon?
