Climate Deniers Deny Reality

Unfortunately, we do not have time machines to return to an era in which the Ice Age was beginning, but we can assume there were climate change deniers. Fast forward thousands of years and at the beginning of the 21st century there are those who believe any alterations in the climate, if they actually are happening, are most probably a good thing. A recent conference of deniers entitled: “Global Warming: Was It Ever Really a Crisis?” attracted hundreds to New York where they discarded any scientific claims as simply hysteria. A key not speech was given by Vacla Klaus, president of the Czech Republic and currently EU president, who believes efforts to deal with climate change are an attack on freedom. “the largest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy, and prosperity, at the end of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century, is no longer socialism. It is, instead, the ambitious, arrogant unscrupulous ideology of environmentalism.”

The forces of reaction and head-in-the-sand deniers are supported by hundreds of Washington lobbyists who seek to curtail any efforts to deal intelligently with the overwhelming evidence of global warming. There are now 2,400 lobbyists in Washington D.C. who constitute 15% of all lobbyists, and their goal is to head off the dreaded “tyranny” of environmental action. Reality is that words will not change their minds. Economic and political interests are their main concern and the world be damned.

Czech President Claims Radar Screen Not Aimed At Russia

President Vaclav Klaus told a Czech radio interview he just does not understand why Russia believes constructing a missile base in Poland or radar stations in the Czech Republic have some connection with their security. “Russians do not believe our assurance, they do not believe what President Bush and others say. They just look at where the radar aims and they can see it is aimed at their territory. We have simply failed to explain to them that we do not view it as an operation aimed at them.” However, he did admit it might be a tad difficult finding arguments to Russian questions whether the possible North Korean missiles would fly to thee United States across the whole of Russia, Europe and the Atlantic Ocean or across the Pacific.

If President Klaus actually believes the missile base and radar stations are aimed at North Korean missiles perhaps he could explain why North Korea has agreed to inspection of its nuclear facilities. Or, if he actually believes Iran would fire missiles at Europe then he undoubtedly is an individual who would probably invest money in the Nigerian swindle scheme about money in South African banks. Why would a nation send missiles west when it would be much easier and quicker sending them east?

President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin may not be the two most intelligent people in the world but they are not dumb enough to believe this hogwash. By the way, recent polls indicate two-thirds of the Czech Republic population opposes the radar stations. Perhaps, President Klaus might spend some time trying to convince his own people that his nutty ideas make sense.

Czech President Opposes Global Warming Hysteria

Speaking before the ultra conservative Council for National Policy,(CNP) President Vaclav Klalus of the Czech Republic tore into ideas that such a thing as global warming was actually happening in the world. He condemned the “irrationality” of considering climate change a threat to the future of humankind, and urged that financial assistance be provided to scientists who reject “global warming alarmism” as of any concern to people in the world. The president also spoke out in favor of stationing American missiles on his nation’s territory. Afterward, Klaus had a friendly chat with his old buddy, Vice President Dick Cheney.

It is the 21st century, huge areas of the Arctic region are melting, and educated people like President Klaus actually believe it is all a hoax. For some reason, he believes scientists who oppose global warming should receive additional financing, but opposes those telling the truth about what is happening in the world. Of course, it is no surprise he is a good friend of Dick Cheney. In the meantime, for some strange reason, President Bush is holding a conference on climate change. Does this suggest the conference is really a farce?
