“Free enterprise means the Yankees have a constitutional right to purchase a pennant.’

“Hell, if my mother lies, I tell her. A lie is a lie, no matter who said it. Take it from me who has never lied.”

“So, I buy $6000 handbags when 12 million are unemployed. It’s important for a First Lady to look chic.”

“If you have a few billion dollars, women tits are yours for the grabbing.”

“Tony Blair got me into this mess, Afghanistan, Iraq, recession. So why blame me, I’m just the British fall guy of the year.” Whimper, whimper.

“So, we have a $40 million scoreboard. Son, this is Texas! Everything is bigger in Texas! Even the jerks!”

“I talked in some country out in Asia and there were some brown skinned men in the audience listening to me. I know it wasn’t OZ or Alaska, but for the life of me, I have no idea where I was.”

“It’s not a smear to call Obama a Nazi Socialist Communist who was born in Africa to a gorilla couple. It’s the ratings. Heck, if I got better ratings calling him a democratic humanitarian, I’d call him that.”

“I wonder if my mum, the Queen, will ever die. Oh well, Prince Charles, forever.”

“Why didn’t I call myself Hannah California. It’s much more chic than Montana.”

Roaming Eyes Of PM Berlusconi On Michelle!

Prime Minister Silvio Belusconi is in deep trouble over reports he had prostitutes to his home and has been allegedly having affairs with young girls. His wife has grown weary of his roving eyes, and now President Obama can join those who really get bored by the Italian’s approach to diplomacy. The Italian prime minster told a Milan rally, that he was bringing greetings from the United States from, “what’s his name? Some tanned guy. Ah, Barack Obama.” He also took a jab at the First Lady with “you won’t believe it, but two of them sent to the beach because the wife is also tanned.”

The European media reported during the recent G-20 summit, Michelle Obama greeted many leaders with a kiss, but when Berlusconi showed up, he got a handshake. The media also noted the Italian Casanova spent his time gazing at the body of Mrs. Obama.

Take away this man’s money and what do you have– an old man who drools with envy at beauty that he can never have.

Is White The Color Of First Ladies?

Mia Swart of the South African Wits University argued the recent D-Day photo op in which both Michelle Obama and Carla Sarkozy both wore white colored dresses was not only a fashion first for two wives of presidents to appear in the same colored dress, but raised interesting possibilities of a political alliance between the American and French leader. Ms. Swart wonders why Carla Sarkozy wore white which is not the color ordinarily worn by this dynamic woman. Does it suggest a high spirited woman has decided to play down who she is in order to assist her political husband to gain votes? She also wonders if Michelle Obama was unaware of the ironic aspect of wearing white on such a significant day.

The fashion world is aghast at the issue of what these women wore, but it does raise a more important issue as to who the hell cares what is the color of what women wear? It is hard to imagine Chancellor Merkel of Germany or Hillary Clinton giving a damn about the color of their clothes or how color might convey a symbolic message. But, when two very beautiful women like Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Sarkozy go out in public, fashion critics transform these two intelligent humans into a fashion statement.

There is some evidence Harvard educated Michelle Obama currently is playing the role of “mom” to her two wonderful daughters and staying clear of political statements. Perhaps, it is time for Michelle Obama to study the life of Eleanor Roosevelt whose plain appearance never raised the slightest question among reporters as to the meaning of the clothes she wore. She became the greatest First Lady in history because Eleanor Roosevelt took repeated stands for human rights. Michelle, wear white, pink, black, purple or whatever, but begin taking a stand for human rights.

Michelle Obama Meets With Military Spouses

Michelle Obama met withmilitary spouses and retirees for a frank discussion of the problems they are encountering while their husbands are deployed as well as issues raised when those who served in combat and now home or out of the service. An Air Force wife said she had to give up her job when her husband was deployed because she couldn’t find child care. A Navy wife described the pressures of taking care of here husband’s father who suffers from Alheimer’s disease while also caring for her infant and teenager– all while her husband is deployed overseas. Amanda McBreen, wife of a Marine Lt. Colonel commented: “It’s an honor that someone in an influential position like Mrs. Obama would care enough to listen to what I have to say…I’ve spent 18 years following my husband and being told what to do without someone ever asking m e how I feel about that.”

This is the third meeting Mrs. Obama has conducted with military spouses in order to identify issues that must addressed by a new administration. She has learned “the mental health issues appear to be higher for people who are active and in the midst of deployment. The stress is just so much more powerful. but the issues are the same.” Mrs. Obama believes these families need more services and support during deployment time for their spouses. They need child care assistance and more access to psychological services.

Of course, an important way to assist these spouses is to get their husbands back from fighting zones.

Editorial: Michelle Obama A Budding Eleanor Roosevelt?

Right wing critics are fastening onto Michelle Obama and in order to transform her into some wild eyed un-American woman who doesn’t belong in the White House. I have been fascinated how attacks on her resemble those made about Eleanor Roosevelt. Mrs. Roosevelt was always much more liberal than her husband and openly sided with oppressed people and those facing discrimination. Her famous fight to get Marion Anderson to sing in Washington D.C. aroused the fury of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Who can forget, Franklin Roosevelt’s famous remarks to that group which began, “fellow immigrants?Michelle Obama can look forward to one smear after another in the coming years but I have a hunch she will become the symbol of the Obama presidency as the one who identifies with poor people in this nation.

If is is any consolation to Mrs.Obama, the attacks on Eleanor Roosevelt were ongoing and she was charged with having romances, of being a lesbian, and even having an affair with a Negro man– in those days, that was a serious charge. They will dig up anything and everything about Michelle Obama because she is very bright, a fighter, and a person concerned with issues of social justice. They have already distorted her speech about being proud of her husband and America and transforming it into a plug for Barack while leaving out the rest of the sentence.

So, Michelle, read up on the life of Eleanor Roosevelt and learn what she experienced. I was raised in a working class Jewish family and she, much more than her husband, was the one we thought would help us to deal with discrimination. She was always there as a rock of support for the working class even when her husband had to make compromises. So, Mrs. Obama, become the modern Eleanor Roosevelt and never shut up, never cease fighting for human rights, and just ignore the slanders of hate.

P.S. As a teenager, I saw Eleanor Roosevelt when she came to our high school. She told us to fight for human rights and never give up. The audience of about a thousand teenagers were crying when she finished. As she walked down the aisle I reached out and touched her. I hope some day children will want to touch you for a fleeting moment.

Swiftboating Michelle Obama Won’t Work!

During the past two presidential elections, the Republican party and right wing conservatives have been remarkably successful at tarnishing the reputation of Democratic opponents. In 2004, a Democratic senator who lost both arms and legs fighting in Vietnam was transformed into a disloyal American while draft dodgers like Dick Cheney came across as paragons of patriotism. Michelle Obama is the latest target of the smear artists who want to create an image of an angry black woman who hates America. A Hillary Clinton supporter last month claimed that Mrs. Obama had preached hate of white people and she allegedly referred to them as “whitey.” As Mrs. Obama recently told a reporter: “You can be amazed sometimes at how deep the lies can be, I mean, ‘whitey?’ That’s something George Jefferson would say. Anyone who says that doesn’t know me. They don’t know anything about me.”

It is interesting the white Clinton blogger used a term that was common on a TV program that aired years ago in which a black working man verbally fights with a white racist bigot and both employ hateful slang expressions. Mrs. Obama is an Ivy League graduate and it is highly unlikely she spent her years in graduate school talking in such a manner. The swiftboaters are out in force and so far have been rather successful misquoting her comments. The expression, “for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country” is widely circulated on the Internet although the remaining part of the sentence is conveniently left out–“and not just because Barack has done well but because I think people are hungry for change.”

Ironically, Michelle Obama represents what right wing critics have been urging she be the model for black Americans. She comes from a hard working black working class family which spent energy urging their children to obtain an education. They were successful and now the critics are condemning the children for having obtained education. It is amazing that a black woman could emerge from a working class background and now be accused of being an “elitist!!” Hopefully, Americans will not be swayed by the distorting words of swiftboaters.

What Did Michelle Obama Really Say!

The Republican smear artists are back at work trying to replicate their success in 2000 and 2004. The latest object of the campaign of distortion and lies is Michelle Obama. Reports are circulating across the Internet and MySpace about the remarks made by the senator’s wife in which she supposedly said she was not proud of America until it got around to nominating her husband. We print the actual words spoken by Michelle Obama and leave it to readers if her remarks are accurately being presented.

“What we have learned over this year is that hope of making a comeback. It is making a comeback and let me tell you something. For the first time in my adult life I’m proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some common issues and it’s made me proud.

And I feel privileged to be part of even witnessing this traveling around states all over this country and being reminded that there is more that unites us than divides us, that the struggles of a farmer in Iowa are no different than what’s happening on the south side of Chicago, that people are feeling the same pain and w anting the same things for their families.”

This is what this courageous woman said, not what you have seen or heard on the media. Don’t allow Republicans to swift boat another candidate with their lies.
