PM Olmert To Israel– Face Reality!

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert upset some right wing Israelis by making clear to the nation of Israel they have been living in a dream world for years and it was time to face reality of the need to surrender territory in exchange for peace. “If we want to keep Israel Jewish and democratic, we need to give up parts of the homeland we have dreamed about for generations and(mentioned) in our prayers, even Arab neighborhoods of Jerusalem , and to return to a 1967 Israel with certain amendments.” He insisted the decision to accept reality is imperative and can not be put off by demagogues who promise to fight on and on. “The moment of truth has arrived,” he said, but, unfortunately too many Israelis prefer believing the rhetoric of defiance instead of the reality of peace.

President Shmon Peres echoed the feeling of Olmert and urged Israelis to carry out the dreams of Yitzhak Rabin who died because he believed in peace rather than empty promises and assurances the status quo could go on indefinitely.
