The regime of Basher al-Assad is determined to retain its power even though in doing so might result in further death to the people of Syria. Opponents of Assad are attempting a new tactic in confronting oppression–the power of children. There are now “children rallies” in which all participants are youth who dislike living in a society ruled by a dictator. Obviously, they are unable to grasp the meaning of these words, but faces of parents, visual images of adults being shot or tortured enable a child to understand this is not an ordinary situation.
They come by the hundreds from ages 7-16 and place their tiny bodies at risk. The question is whether Assad gives a damn about children or anyone who disagrees with his views on life and government. We wonder where are the imams who are ready to risk their lives in order to save children from death?
