There is scant doubt the United States military and its Afghan allies together with Coalition forces are winning the battle of interesting names to depict battles being fought. There is no way the Taliban can surpass our ability to give names to operations which supposedly are aimed at destroying the Taliban. Back in August, we had Operation Eastern Resolve, and this week military forces instituted Operation Cobra’s Anger. During this major operation at least five Taliban were killed and a few captured.
In the end, the group that will win in Afghanistan is the group which has more powerful names for its operations. I believe it is impossible for the Taliban to invent more interesting names for their attacks other than “jihad two” or something like that. Keep the names coming and, as President Obama put it, we will “finish the job.” I have a hunch he never thought the job was coming up with interesting names.
