The government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu enjoys informing the American government of the importance of drawing red lines to inform Iran or Syrians as to what they can or can not do. The latest red line being demanded is that American planes should destroy Syrian missile sites if there is any evidence these weapons are being turned over to Hezbollah. The Israel request makes military sense since the prospect of Hezbollah in possession of such weapons poses a threat to peace in the Middle East.
However, if the US has to draw red lines in sand so should Israel. If the US should be asked to risk lives of Americans, so should Israel be asked to draw a red line in the sand and inform West Bank settlers they must evacuate land that belongs to Palestinians. Why when it comes to West Bank settlers must the Israel government back away? Is Israel would seriously move toward peace with Palestinians the fear of Hezbollah would weaken.
