The National Rifle Association encourages training in use of weapons in order to be prepared for the gun assault that will never occur. Terry J. Dunlop was teaching a group of adults the basic elements of how to use a gun in a manner that ensures you will be able to hit the gun men who never will fire at you. As he demonstrated use of a handgun at a training facility, he fired a bullet. The bullet richohetedoff a desk and went right into the arm of a student. Fortunately, the class consisted of nurses who quickly were able to tend the wound of the man. Mr. Dunlop said he did not realize the gun was loaded.
Police accepted his explanation and classified it as an accident. Let me get this right. A trained gun lover never checked the weapon to see if it was loaded. Fascinating.
