In 1966, during the height of America’s war in Vietnam, Senator William Fulbright of Arkansas wrote a book entitled, “The Arrogance of Power.” We offer a quote from this work.

“What I do question is the ability of the United States…. to go into a small, alien, underdeveloped Asian nation and create stability where there is chaos, the will to fight, where there is defeatism, democracy where there is no tradition of it, and honest government were corruption is almost a way of life… I think the world has endured about all it can of the crusades of high minded men bent on the regeneration of the human race… bringing money to their intended beneficiaries and destruction on themselves.”

Perhaps, President Obama should read this book— AND REFLECT!
