Australian Prime Minister Suffers From Iraq

Prime Minister John Howard of Australia witnessed his steady decline in popularity due to his continued support of George Bush and the Iraq war. The British pullout from Basra accentuated demands by the opposition Labor Party for withdrawal of Australian troops and its leader, Mr. Rudd, pledged to take such action if Labor wins the upcoming Parliamentary election. Howard remains committed to keeping Australian troops in Iraq although his popularity dipped to 37% while Labor was now being supported by 58% of the Australian people.

Wherever Bush goes, his touch turns people into hated figures.
