Archbishop Wilton Gregory has been unfairly denounced by the Pope because he went ahead and attempted to lead the life of an American. He is of African American heritage and was attempting to live out the life of an American success story when the Pope interfered in the life of a true American Hero. What exactly did the Bishop do that upset the Pope. He built himself a $2.5 million mansion which had an elevator, a wine room, offices down and up the stairs and an eight burner stove along with a few other amenities. But, isn’t this the type of home any successful American entrepreneur would build? Bishop Gregory simply wanted to live out the life of a success story, but now he must abandon his dream of success and be forced to live like any normal American middle class person! THAT is NOT the modern American dream. Make gobs and gobs of money, build a few mansions and prove that money is our modern God.
Alas, now poor Bishop Gregory is compelled to listen to the rantings of the man from Italy who wants members of the clergy to live “simply.” He wants them to get closer to their parishioners. But, if those who I admire live on Wall Street, isn’t it only logical that I build a mansion and serve the needs of our wealthy leaders of America? I wonder if the Koch brothers are Catholic??
