British Troops Move To Iran Border

September 12th, 2007 by Fred Stopsky · No Comments

British troops moved out of the Basra area and headed toward the Iranian border where they were asked to halt the flow of weapons into Iraq. British General James Bashell said: “We have been asked to help at the Iranian border to stop the flow of weapons and I am willing to do so.” The weapons are headed for Shiite forces who are loyal to the present Iraq government.

The current Iraq government has close ties with Iran which results in an interesting dilemma for America. Weapons are being given Shiites who are trying their best to wipe out the Sunnis. One might ask if dealing with the flow of weapons is a military or is it a diplomatic issue. Wouldn’t it be preferable for Iraqi political officials to deal with halting the flow of weapons?
