President Bush insists upon pushing the Iranian government and proving that it is behind terrorism in Iraq. His latest example is listing the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization. This group of 125,000 is generally regarded as a fervent supporter of the present Iranian government and stands as a bulwark against any attempt to overthrow the government.
Bush is attempting to heat up anger against Iran because it helps deflect inquiry into his own failed Iraq policies. There is no evidence the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has been involved in terrorist activities. Undoubtedly, its members give aid and support to Iraqis who are presently in key roles in the Iraqi government. Prime Minister Maliki just got back from Tehran where he praised Iran for his help. Now, Bush claims the group Maliki praised is really bent on overthrowing him. This is a Bush ploy, it makes no sense.
