Congressman Charles Rangel has served in the House of Representatives since before one third of Americans were born. He has been a solid Democrat, a decent liberal and can feel proud of his record. Of course, along the way to casting liberal votes, Charlie was rather liberal and securing perks of office which enabled him to accumulate a nice bank account and a few houses. But, after forty years of Charlie, the people of his district would enjoy another person at the helm of office.
The night of the primary election, Charlie was ahead by 2,000 votes. For some reason, a whole bunch of votes were not counted and now he is ahead by 800 votes. At least 2,000 ballots remain to be counted. Charlie is upset. After 20 times of going to bed before 10:00 p.m. what is this business of having to count more ballots.
There is a time to remain and there is a time to depart. Charlie, depart, ye have tarried too long!
