The tragedy of Syria continues unabated with death and destruction impacting both innocent and guilty. A rebel mortar attack in Damascus hit a school and killed 29 students and their teacher. I am certain there are rebels who shrug off this incident as an example of collaterial damage in pursuit of the noble end of overthrowing President Assad. Yes, President Assad is a brutal ruthless dictator who has killed thousands. But, does this mean innocent supporters of this evil man must also die?
Assad is promising not to employ chemical weapons on his own people–it is OK for other people. He has no problem bombing, shooting and having tanks crush people, but he does draw the line at chemicals. Of course, he knows using chemicals would unleash a powerful UN assault on his government.
Anyway, 29 kids died today.
