The Chinese government is training over 25,000 security personnel in preparation for next year’s Olympic games. They have established special security headquarters in each area in which some aspect of the Olympics will be held. According to Minister or Public Security, Zhou YOungkang, “terrorism in particular, poses the greatest threat’ to the Olympic games.
China is worried that regional conflicts will spill over into the Olympics causing security problems. In anticipation, the government has worked out 500 detailed plans attempting to c over all potential areas in which terrorism might occur.
The Chinese regard the upcoming Olympics as important to their image and will go to extraordinary lengths in order to ensure everything goes according to plan.
