Danish Schools Make Exceptions Including Religious Ones

A furor erupted in Denmark when a school which had many Muslim students held a mothers only meeting because it was feared the presence of males in the audience hampered free and open speech on the part of female Muslims. According to a recent Politiken newspaper poll of administrators in state run schools, about a third stated there were practices in place to respect the rights of individuals ranging from special dressing room facilities for overweight students to gender divided parent meetings based on non-religious factors. A third of schools give days off for religious holidays. Visit a modern school and one readily encounters special alternatives for students.

The issue really is whether Muslim fathers use religion in order to suppress the rights of women in the home. That, is the issue.
