Once upon a time, Barack Obama was a professor who taught students about the Constitution. Once upon a time, Professor Obama condemned violation of human rights that occurred all too often under the administration of George Bush. Ah, but that was a long, long, time ago when Professor Obama believed in human rights. I understand that Professor Obama is a “Pragmatist” who believes liberals like myself do not grasp the real world and live in fantasy lands where people enjoy the full benefits of their constitutional rights. Pfc. Bradley Manning was arrested because of his participation in the Wikileaks and since that moment has been in a jail in which he is treated as a man who is on the verge of committing suicide. According to his lawyer, Bradley Manning once cracked a joke and since that comment has been forced to strip naked each night and is kept in solitary confinement virtually the entire day and night.
The president assured the media that military authorities informed him that Manning was not being treated in any unfair manner. The new Obama believes what he is told by the Army. During WWII, a famous Army cartoonist, Bill Mauldin drew cartoons that mocked American generals. A general decided to close down Mauldin who drew for the Stars & Stripes. General Dwight D. Eisenhower, who led American and British troops in Europe, informed the general that Mauldin had a right to mock generals or anyone else he desired because he was a member of a democratic Army. Ah, but that was a long time ago.
