Death In Bangladesh

Nations in non-Muslim areas of the world tend to examine issues occuring in Muslim societies as always centered on  life within the western world. Islamic militancy is discussed as though the focus of Muslim fanatics was upon “western civilization.” Bangladesh is a Muslim society and during its struggle for independence from Pakistan a civil war occurred which pitted two different Islamic groups against one another. A Bangladesh court sentenced Ghulam Azam to 90 years in jail for participating in mass murder and rape of Muslims  during the conflict. A judicial panel insisted that he deserved the death penalty but due to his age-91– they were going to avoid the death penalty.

Such is the reality of Muslim society. Most Muslims do NOT agree with the fanaticism of the Jamaat -e-Islami party which believes in death and violence.
