The group of British and Afghan troops were working to reduce opportunities for Taliban forces to continue their aggressive actions in Helmand, an area in the south of Afghanistan. Suddenly, without any provocation, two Afghan soldiers, Sarah Mohammed and Sardre Ali cocked their rifles, Sarah killed two NATO troops and was killed by others in the group while Ali escaped. It was just another day in Afghanistan, it was just another example that Taliban forces have seriously infiltrated the Afghan army.
What can be done? Frankly, not much. Afghan leaders will issue promises to “tighten up screening,” but infiltrations will continue. There are too many people in Afghanistan who don’t like the Karzai government and even more who want ALL foreigners to leave their country. Most probably, that WILL be the end result.
