Americans remember their heroic president on television of in one of his super patriotic speeches amide flowing flags boast he intended to get Osama bin Laden, “dead of alive.” It is strange but no Republicans in this election are talking about the dynamic trio of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld’s insistence if the American people would simply entrust them with power, al-Qaeda would be destroyed. Seven years after the boasting and threatening, Osama and his cohort of terrorists have increased tenfold in size and reside peacefully in Pakistan preparing plans to kill and destroy their enemies. Anthony Cordesman, an analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, claims “today, if violent extremism and terrorism have a center, it is Pakistan and not Iraq.”
While Senator McCain boasts about “victory” over terrorism, al-Qaeda is intensifying operations in tribal areas of northwest Pakistan, replenishing its cadres, and stronger than ever. Only four months remain of the Bush “watch” and as he departs, his arch enemy Osama bin Laden will be smiling as he once against sends terrorists out to do their work of mayhem and destruction.
The only person who is “dead” is George Bush.
