Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyau and his Cabinet reviewed plans for their nation’s priorities which apparently include putting millions of dollars more into construction of settlements on the West Bank. However, Netanyahu also said: “We will determine the future of settlements only within the framework of a permanent peace settlement.” with Palestinians. Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned about placing money in the hands of right wing exremists and noted their destruction the past week of a mosque in the West Bank. He said the Labor Party placed priorities in protecting the Galilee and Negev areas as well as land on the periphery of the nation.
Is Netanyahu holding an ace up his sleeve? Is he willing to compromise on settlements if Israel can secure an overall settlement with Palestinians? At this point, no one knows.
