It increasingly becomes clear that events in Syria mark the beginning of a civil war that will not shortly conclude in harmony and peace. The city of Damascus, which previously had not been the area in which fighting was common, now confronts daily bombs. Fighting is raging in the district of al-Tadamon where inhalants can hear the sound of artillery and gunfire. Soldiers have surrounded Palestinian refugee camps to prevent aid from getting to rebel forces.
Insurgents will not capture Damascus in the coming months, but inhabitants will daily discover increased gunfire, suicide bombers blasting restaurants, and neighbors becoming enemies as people choose up sides. A civil war invariably results in anger and hate, one side wins and one side loses. Dark days of violence loom for inhabitants of Damascus.
Anyone for the next flight to Paris??
