The Swedish government announced that it would take in 8,700 people from Iraq and provide them an opportunity to live in peace in a day that witnessed over a hundred Iraqis killed or wounded in bomb blasts in Baghdad. Many European nations like France, Germany, the UK, and Italy have also allowed people from Iraq to settle in their lands. One might wonder exactly what has been the policy of the American government over the past several years in regard to refugees from the war torn nation. Frankly, there has been limited interest among Americans to reach out to Iraqis and offer them refuge and a chance to live in peace.
Since George Bush authorized the invasion of Iraq the United States has been more interested in fighting in Iraq than in fighting to ensure the people of that land have a chance to begin again. The reality is hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Christians whose ancestors have been in the land for nearly 1800 years have been forced to flee due to Muslim fanatics who want to drive out infidels. Of course, the Christians were there before arrival of Muslims.
